It has a nice personality: Ford boosts Focus production by 30% to meet demand {Autoblog}
Apr 15th 2008 2:13PM The Corolla isn't ugly (in fact, it looks like a baby Camry), it's just bland and boring. The Focus, on the other hand, is probably the ugliest American car since the Pinto (I'd say the Gremlin, but the Pinto was made for 2 years after AMC stopped production of the ugly duckling).
I think most people would rather go with the mundane Corolla than the Cobalt and Focus mostly because of reliability and because the Corolla's looks don't insult you. So what if Toyota didn't try to be bold? That's not what the Corolla is trying to market to anyway. For what it is, Toyota did a great job with the new Corolla, IMHO.
Carsumer Advocacy: Circuit City does right by damaged Civic Si owner {Autoblog}
Apr 15th 2008 2:09PM I'm surprised they didn't dispute the charges. I mean, $12k in damages on a Civic interior? Did you guys see the pictures and the estimates the guy posted? You'd think they'd almost total the car out for this.

Apr 15th 2008 2:05PM I like the "fat girl" reference in the title. Yeah, she's ugly, but she's got a great personality. LOL
Spy Shots: 2010 Ford Taurus... finally {Autoblog}
Apr 10th 2008 1:25PM This is an American car I'd actually drive (judging by the exterior alone). It looks so much better than anything Ford has in the USDM market today!

The fact still remains that ANYONE, including Osama bin Laden or Kim Jong Ill, can photograph your property SO LONG AS THEY'RE DOING IT FROM PUBLIC LAND/PROPERTY! It remains completely legal, regardless of your privacy scares. That's also one of the reasons why you are not allowed to have sex in your house if the blinds/curtains are open and it's visible from the street/sidewalk.

Apr 7th 2008 3:11PM Mr. Oak,
Anything that can be viewed from public property (i.e. any street or sidewalk) can be photographed legally, with the exception of a few government installations. That means that if these pictures were taken from a public road then they are 100% legit. The problem arises if the public road ended and a private one began. From the way it's displayed in the map, it looks like Google thought the whole road was public. If it isn't then they made a mistake, but it's easy to see how they could've thought they were following the law (there are no signs stating "private property" or where the boundary lies).
First Drive: 2009 Nissan GT-R {Autoblog}
Apr 4th 2008 1:22PM It's actually faster off the line than the Corvette, according to C&D's article this month. It did 0-60 in 3.3 seconds but the Vette needs 3.7 seconds to reach the same speed. How is it that the GT-R wasn't able to catch up to the Z06?

Mar 13th 2008 1:25PM I was given one of these wagons as a Hertz rental a few weeks back (long weekend in Vegas so they were out of normal cars). At first I frowned upon it and asked the lady if I could please have another vehicle. After she told me for the 10th time that they had nothing else, I settled for the Volvo. It had a little under 500 miles on it and, in 8 days, I was able to pack a little over 1200 more on it. And, after all that driving (including a drive to Phoenix and back), I must say I was impressed. The only negatives being the power and MPG numbers (I averaged just over 20MPG on the highway and under 15MPG city).
I don't think I'd spend the $45,000 for it, but I'd definitely love to get it again next time I rent a car.
New York Preview: 2009 Acura TSX details surface {Autoblog}
Feb 14th 2008 9:35AM The "unbelievably poor gas mileage" you mention is due, in large part, to the RDX coming in at 3982, compared to the TSX's 3345 (both with AT trannies). The same engine in the TSX would not equal the 17/22 of the RDX, but would probably be more like 20/28, very similar to the current numbers.
