Jul 18th 2006 3:19PM My first toyota I purchased in 2001 a 2002 corolla died outside my home the first week home, Cheap battery!
I had to get it towed back to the dealer and they had to put in a normal battery that wont die so easily.
I sold that junker shortly thereafter
A 1990 toyota corolla hatchback I got used on the cheap broke down after driving cross state in middle of the city traffic - it was dead for good.
a 1994 toyota corolla i got used on the cheap hard plastic pieces under the wheel kept on falling off on my feet while driving on the highway almost crashing several times.
Driving a 1996 toyota camry for a family member cross state in the winter down a hill almost cost me my life. this thing skidded for over 200 feet nearly sendinf me over a the road down a cliff twice! luckily I know how to drive and handle a crappy vehicle under rough conditions due to my Military training in the US Army - im not sure if a weaker willed poor soul would have been as fortunate
Not toyota but another foreign junker story
family memeber had a subaru forrester - top of the line edition. The windshield had to be taken in several times. it would always very easily get cracks in the front windshield until they finally got fed up and sold it

Jul 18th 2006 2:49PM Remember folks you get what you pay for
Cheaper is not always better
Crappy foreign cars with low quality might be cheaper than America but America quality automobiles far outshine them
I have driven many foreign and domestic cars all my life, actually 10 toyotas - to compare I would never purchase a foreign made car or even foreign parts or engineered car - the quality control is way below American standards for safety
I have toyotas almost kill me in cold weather mountain driving, drop dead in middle of city traffic and parts fall off on my feet as I am driving on the highway just to name a few very scary moments!
DONT let you family drive junk to save a few bucks - their lives are at stake here people come on!
An investment in a car shouldn't be made solely on the sticker price - especially those with families and children

Oh you feel so bad for the large multi national multi billion corporation!?
What about the family of 4, or the 16 yr old, or the pregnant single woman with no job who are driving one of millions of Toyotas when the plastic falls on their feet?
Do you feel bad for them at all?
