iPhone app finds your car, dude {Autoblog}
Jul 14th 2008 11:05AM The one thing this thing (probably) can't help with is when you forget which level you parked on in one of those nightmarish slant-level parking decks. I doubt this app can do 3D locates as well.
The secret life of the Chevy Volt {Autoblog}
Jun 17th 2008 9:28PM You know, while I agree with many of your underlying arguments, calling people "morons" doesn't really advance GM's case too well, does it? I rag on the posters who express hatred for GM (I've had bad experiences with Nokia products and I don't "hate" Nokia) and I'll get on the guys who call people morons.
Ad hominem arguments rarely win anyone over.
The secret life of the Chevy Volt {Autoblog}
Jun 16th 2008 10:26PM You know, its real easy to take someone's quote completely out of context and hold it up to ridicule. I don't think Rick Wagoner woke up one morning 3 or 4 years ago and had the epiphany that sticktoedness was necessary in business. I think its pretty obvious is that he's saying that the myriad obstacles GM (and, to some extent, the auto industry as a whole) has faced since 2005 (Katrina, Delphi, GMAC/ResCap, real estate meltdown, energy costs, etc...) and GM's reaction to those crises have shown the value of sticking with a game plan rather than tacking and jibing with each change in the economic headwinds. Show me how many other companies can take so many body blows (yes, some of them self-inflicted due to the policies of the past when the auto industry was an oligopoly) and still be standing and potentially posed to strike a big blow with the Volt? Not too many. I don't know what it is about GM that elicits such hatred out there, but, for pete's sake, grow up and lay off.

GM passes Toyota in Q2 global sales {Autoblog}
Jul 21st 2007 10:29PM Do you realize that in 9 out of the top 10 markets in the world, GM outsells Toyota? Guess which one Toyota is tops in? You got it: Japan. There, Toyota sells approximately 2 million units more annually than GM does. Back that out of the equation and GM would still be number 1, and by a comfortable margin. And that's legit, too, because the Japanese, as is pointed out, do not allow (as a practical matter) foreign vehicle imports.
I'm not saying that Toyota hasn't done a great job in getting to where it is. All of its competitors, including GM, study Toyota's successes and imitate many of them. However, that's also not to say that Toyota has not had some substantial help from the Japanese government via the aforementioned import restrictions and manipulation of the yen. Not only that, but look at our own U.S. double standards relating to labor/management relations that allows foreign manufacturers to waltz in here and set up non-union shops in the South, and there's a real thumb on the scale in Toyota's favor.
JP Morgan upgrades Ford, GM to "overweight" {Autoblog}
Jul 10th 2007 8:55PM Tim: You are missing the point. The negotiation point which Wall Street is anticipating is that the automakers will offload the future health care cost to a UAW run VEBA, which will be funded initially by the automakers. If this happens, there will be a potential large benefit to the domestics.
