May 12th 2008 4:47PM it looks like it'll have headlights like the new SL... which might not be such a bad thing. I remember most people on AB thinking those headlights were ugly (I did too) but when i went to the MB dealership and saw it in real life, i ave to admit it looked good. Damn good, in fact. either way im sure itll sell like hotcakes
It's happened: Boy hit by hybrid, mom blames quiet running {Autoblog}
May 8th 2008 2:22PM if you're in the middle of the street, and you hear a car coming, isn't it already too late? nowadays you can't hear cars coming a mile away, whether they're hybrid or not
You know what they say: Court orders Volvo to pay man with big feet {Autoblog}
May 8th 2008 1:50PM i didn't know the pedal/ brake distance was such a problem. I'm a size 12, and yes, in both my Volvos part of my foot would touch the brake as i pressed on the pedal, but never to the point where i would press one instead of the other. i suppose it would be more challenging with a Manual because of all the switching of pedals
Spy Shots: Baby Cayenne caught on 'Ring! {Autoblog}
May 8th 2008 1:41PM i thought Porsche coming out with the Cayenne was cute, but 2 SUVs is extremely unnecessary. Porsche is trying to be like a regular luxury brand and that's pretty stupid, especially with Audi in the way.
I like when car companies have ONE project that is out of their character ( like lambo and its SUV way back when), and Porsche and its Cayenne.. but with the Cayenne, another SUV, and the Panamera on its way I think this is pure brand dilution. I just don't associate "Porsche" with "family car"
BMW's in-car internet coming to U.S. later this year {Autoblog}
May 5th 2008 5:29PM noooo! PLEASE don't put it in the 3 series!! i dont want 16 year old kids smacking into my car because they're too busy watching youtube or porn while driving. yesterday some girl in a brand new c-class literally backed onto a main street going 20mph without even realizing she almost killed me. if i didn't honk the horn just in time im sure she would've hit me or something else aroud her
Greenpeace builds Cayenne and M-Class bulldozers for some reason or another {Autoblog}
May 5th 2008 5:23PM It's funny when I see people for other countries complain about Cayennes, M -Classes, and X5's. come to the U.S when we have stretched Escadales and Lincoln Navigators sold as family cars! i know their gas mileage isn't that much worse than the aforementioned SUVs, ( my dad's X5 gets 14 mpg) but still, just the blatant disregard for even LOOKING like you care about the planet is enough for every other country in the world to hate us even more! Well, at least in America we Hollywood-ize the Toyota Prius
"Hello dad, I totaled your Ferrari - what time is dinner?" {Autoblog}
May 5th 2008 2:48PM I agree with john and alex. it's all relative. This guy's son totaling the Ferrari will hurt just as bad your son totaling the Grand Am/ Cobalt/Taurus. Like Alex said, young [male] drivers drive like jackasses no matter they're behind the wheel of.
the biggest mistake i think the dad made was letting his son drive HIS car. My dad has two bimmers, one of them is older than me and the other is brand new, and i'd be lucky to even breathe on them. he just gave me my own car to drive so that when I totaled it and made "the dreaded phonecall," he wasn't even upset. he basically just said " well, glad you're alright son. I guess YOU don't have a car anymore"
Lamborghini wants less Audi DNA in its products {Autoblog}
May 2nd 2008 5:03PM thank god!
I was tired of seeing Audi being incorporated into Lambos. I'm an 80's baby, so i don't know that many different Lambo models, but as far as i know all Lambos should have doors that go up in the air! I thought that was their signature... thats why i was mortified when i saw the gallardo's doors opening like every other car on the street!
maybe Lambo has had horizontally opening doors before, maybe this is their first time (except for the SUV, of course), but all I know is that a Lamborghini shouldn't be blending in with other supercars. (I guess im biased, growing up in the Countach era)
British study suggests that older drivers are safer drivers {Autoblog}
May 1st 2008 12:27PM The term "dangerous" can be thought of in different terms:
If you're talking about life-threatening, teens are worse drivers by far. (The're more likely to slam into the back of your car at 90mph in a parking lot)
If you're talking about danger to your car or your blood pressure from getting so annoyed, then old drivers take the cake-- along with people who can't drive and talk on the cell phone at the same time, but do so anyway.
I think a simple solution would be to make license tests more intensive and difficult (mine was easy as hell) and to make air conditioned shuttle systems that are specifically for senior citizens, because I can understand why they would never want to get on a city bus
