Samsung Instinct requires unlimited Sprint plan of $100 or more -- ouch. {Engadget}

Samsung Instinct requires unlimited Sprint plan of $100 or more -- ouch. {Engadget}

Apr 2nd 2008 11:45PM Seriously Engadget. Get your shit straight. As has been said already, "Everything Plan" = Unlimited Data plan...not the $99 unlimited voice and data plan.

Audi A5 convertible coming in 2009 {Autoblog}

Mar 12th 2008 3:15PM Amen. Mass market doesn't buy these cars at base spec. Two downsides to the S5 though are 1) many of the options require nav and before you know it you've got a fully loaded $60k car 2) the 335i has a substantial advantage over both the S5 and A5 in fuel efficiency...which is a big consideration in this day and age.

Ghosn dismisses GT-R sedan, Q45 successor likely {Autoblog}

Mar 6th 2008 12:41PM This is fine with me. Priority #1 for Nissan should be putting all their efforts into making enough GT-R's so people can actually get their hands on them at MSRP. I don't have a dealer withing 300 miles not selling these at $90k.

Microsoft speculates on ad-supported Sync {Engadget}

Mar 2nd 2008 7:14PM Microsoft, Ford, and advertisers certainly know if users are inundated with ads it reduce the effectiveness of the ads and will turn users away from the service. Targeted advertising in principle means fewer adds. With targeted advertising, advertisers pay a high fee to specifically go after the people whose profile matches their clientele.

Behavioral and location based advertising is coming whether we like it or not. Why do you think Google is building Android? It's sure as $#@& not because they're board. What Microsoft is saying is, if through your car's GPS they know you drive by a Krispy Kreme every day on the way to work and by an In-and-Out every day on the way home, but you stop off at the gym 4 days a week they can target you for a Subway ad by, say marking the nearest subway on your map or having it come up first on the list of results if you type in 'food' instead of the Krispy Kreme or In-and-Out.

The $20 iPod touch upgrade: really for legal reasons or no? {Engadget}

Jan 21st 2008 9:25PM I'm on the other side of the fence. This interpretation is absolutely wrong. SOX was created in the wake of Enron & MCI to ensure the accuracy of financial statements (ex. that data flows through from the point of sale to billing to financial systems). SOX doesn't care what you charge for or not. All SOX cares about is if Apples charges for it, that every penny of that $20 makes it to Apple's financial statements.

Google Maps for mobile adds My Location feature, no GPS needed {Engadget Mobile}

Dec 4th 2007 6:57PM That could be because it's using the BB's actual GPS instead of the tower triangulation.

Google to acquire Sprint Nextel for Mobile WiMax? {Engadget Mobile}

Nov 14th 2007 1:15AM I think everyone needs to back up a second, put on your 'business hat', and think about the original post...Google to acquire SPRINT for WiMAX - not happening.

I've long thought Google is a real contender for buying Sprint's WiMAX assets (a better alternative than the 700MHz). However, Google should only acquire SPRINT if: 1) Google wanted to be a carrier or 2) Sprint was unwilling to part with WiMAX (you can acquire assets without acquiring the entire company). However, Sprint would be very short-sighted if they threw away WiMAX given its cost advantages. Likewise, even Google in their stong position would have to raise some SERIOUS funding to buy Sprint. We're talking a purchase value of $90B guys!! Even Google doesn't have that kinda cash sitting around and while raising the funding might be possible, they still have to build a network and sink some big money into the company to set it on track.

I don't see Google wanting to be a carrier (as mentioned, they're better off being everyone's friend). Likewise, you don't make a $90B purchase to get $10B of assets and toss the rest.

Guys, Google has a great business model...hire some really smart people, create some really cool websites and tools, own online advertising, run some servers, and sit back and count the cash. Being a wireless carrier...operating stores, customer service, mass media advertising, running/maintaining/expanding a network is a MUCH different ballgame. That's why Sprint's stock is $16 and Google's is $660. Think about it.

BMW slaps a refreshed nose on the 6, plus new prices {Autoblog}

Nov 13th 2007 3:48PM Agreed!!! I so cannot understand why anyone would take a 650i over the S5 at $25k more. I hoped the S5's release and pricing would bring the 6 series down to reality, but no such luck.
