Rotten Tomatoes rates top 50 movie cars {Autoblog}

May 15th 2008 3:53PM My vote is one for the real car movie guys:

The gray-primered, supercharged 426 HEMI-powered 1941 Willys gasser in the 1979 movie "Hot Rod" aka "Rebel of the Road".

If you have never seen this flick, you owe it to yourself to dig up a copy.

Totally BADASS.

Lutz declares that first Volt mule is running 40 miles on battery power {Autoblog}

May 15th 2008 11:43AM I see a lot of posts about GM interiors... and I know there ARE better interiors out there. (Except maybe the new CTS. Yum.)

However, my uncle just bought a new Camry (not a base model either), and the interior is a sea of super hard, cheap-feeling plastics. They even use the corrugated-looking aqua colored plastics like Apple used on G4 cases a decade ago. I was thoroughly unimpressed.

It does run pretty well with that hot V6 though... gotta give credit where it's due.

Ford recalling 605,000 full-size trucks {Autoblog}

May 15th 2008 9:02AM You really think the manufacturers are making their own hoses?

VIDEO: Cadillac CTS-V takes to the 'Ring, pummels into submission {Autoblog}

May 14th 2008 10:09PM LOL. He didn't even make a full lap! Note the orange safety truck on the left of the car right after the start... now notice that at the end of the video it's just coming into view ahead of him after he's already slowed to a crawl.

This was obviously just a test lap that wasn't being stringently timed. If they were going for a real time, you wouldn't slow to a stop as you came to the finish, you'd blow through and make another circuit.

Nice try though.

Ford recalling 605,000 full-size trucks {Autoblog}

May 14th 2008 4:09PM The braking performance remains the same, it just takes a lot more pedal effort. The hydraulic lines are still operating normally.

Also, the engine might surge a little, but it will still run with a vacuum leak. It's not like the old days when spark advance was controlled by manifold vacuum.

May 14th 2008 3:32PM Ford's suppliers should be beaten to within an inch of their lives for allowing something as low-tech as a vacuum hose to cause a massive recall.

Toyota responds to Ford's new initial quality ads {Autoblog}

May 12th 2008 12:20PM Wow. That DOES suck.

However it's still a little irresponsible to say Ford is killing people in their sleep... They've obviously covered their
consumers on their end. They found the problem and have issued the recall.

All of the automakers - including Toyota - have had similar problems at one time or another.

The truth is, any simple electrical short can cause a fire. There is a LOT of power in a car battery. It's a sad reality of the automobile.

May 12th 2008 10:23AM "have you own up to all the people your vehicles are killing while they sleep?"

Um.... HUH?!

(I'm suddenly having visions of a Mustang - as a character from Cars - creeping around my bedroom wielding an axe...)
