Aug 31st 2007 6:58PM Can we carve up a bit of the South and create a country and dump all these wacko wrongwing nutjobs like Alex and seminole and the whole republican party there? Life is not about rightwing or left wing its about right and wrong and you idiots are wrong.

You probably want the old days of no regulation where we had no headrests, seatbelts, crumple zones, catalytic converter, gasoline with lead and on and on. The good old days huh?

Aug 31st 2007 6:45PM Fordman you are right however you should know this is just a temporary fad everyone goes through. All young men splurge when they are in their twenties, but the critical part is coming out of it.

I am 37 and after a couple of beaters I bought a 1991 Porsche 928 S4. I paid 60 grand for that thing. I was 22 and just graduated university. 70% of my monthly paycheck went to payment, gas, insurance and maintnance.

However for the last 12 years I have bought much cheaper cars and also cars that I have needed. I own a home, have money for vacations, and am financially richer by it.

Aug 31st 2007 6:27PM I am with Adam and Rem on this one. I dont care who John Edwards is or what he says, this sense of "free country" and entitlement you guys express is disgusting.
Im in roofing and I drive a ford ranger and that is all the truck I need. However my two workers both drive Rams. Actually one of them is 22 and I just hired him 4 months ago and he showed up to work the next day having bought a crewcab ram with a Hemi and all that. He pays 640 a month, plus 400 bucks gas a month and another 250 insurance and whatever else. He bitches about it constantly and the couple of times I asked him why he had to buy this beast he says things like "Its a free country", "because I like it", "whatever, I like it its cool", and then goes on and on and on and on about why gas is so expensive.

I tell him one gallon of gas is cheaper than 1 gallon of orange juice, one gallon of milk and one gallon of beer at a pub. Stop thinking the world owes you something.

Aug 31st 2007 5:43PM Yes he is a hypocrite.
Yes he seems like a lier too.
Yes he asks for others to sacrifice while he doesn't.
Yes to all that.

However, there is some truth to the fact that most people do not need an SUV. And all this freedom of choice crap you can shove it. The constitution does not say you have a freedom to buy an SUV and it doesn't say it is illegal to buy one either. Since we all live on the same planet and have to drink the same water and breath the same air, its only fair that we are all responsible to others.

Maybe a small 3% sales tax on the purchase of an SUV. On a 30,000 truck its only 900 bucks. If you need one pay it.

That 900 is enough money to subsidize your waste. Then go burn twice as much gas and twice as much emmisions and all that.

I drive a Ford Explorer, and I like my SUV even though a wagon probably will do. I am willing to pay an SUV tax if it would get EVERYONE OFF MY BACK.

Aug 24th 2007 2:30PM Dont even go there. I saw that Road and Track which was also placed in their sister publication Car and Driver. They used a Good Year tire!!!!
Did you read the magazine two issues later? Thats what all the letters were about. The test should have used Firestone tires not something else. Also the test should have used a firestone tire right about to fail and not another tire that simply went flat (no tread separation)

Aug 24th 2007 2:20PM Two things, I meant Camaro not Camara and its not just GM and Ford, they just came to mind. Chrysler does this, Mazda does this, Porsche does it and a few others.

Aug 24th 2007 2:19PM Why do you even listen to this guy calling himself C
This is the same guy going by Jack before and Rambo as well.
He shows up, goes on a huge unsubstantiated rant then disappears back to his shed.

Aug 24th 2007 2:15PM Are you sure you are not describing your beloved Ford?

Aug 24th 2007 2:13PM You dont hear much about upcoming cars from Honda because unlike Ford and recently GM, Honda doesn't whore out its products for 3 years before it comes out. This way the wrap is pulled off 2 weeks before sales begin and the product is fresh for its entire 4 year cycle.

GM has been showing the Camara for a full 2 years now. Its another year before it comes out. By the time I see it on the street it will be just a normal reaction and a year after that the product is dated and stale.

Aug 23rd 2007 5:27PM I work at a large lumbur exporting company and a guy stopped by our office several months back for a meeting. He had a light blue SL55. I started asking him about it and how fast it was and he shockingly told me to take it for a spin. I grabbed the keys and ran out.

All the car mags have given the car a 0-60 in about 4.2 to 4.3 seconds and for a guy driving a Ranger everyday I din't know what to expect.

After firing it up and getting on my way this car was astonishingly fast. 493hp and 510 torque is insane. I could not tip the gas pedal soft enough at the lights! It would just jerk the tires and get going. At anytime and any speed if I just pressed on the gas slightly it would move forward. No kickdowns needed!

So I cannot imagine a V12 with 738 torque at only 1800RPM would feel like!!!?
