May 12th 2008 3:24PM So I take it in the future we will see 100-speed transmissions and 10,000 horsepower cars as the norm?

Enter the Rumormill: Ford considering F-100 small pickup {Autoblog}

May 12th 2008 2:35PM Looks good. Let's hope they build it well and more come along like this so that america can still drive its trucks and SUVs but still be more economical at the same time.

May 12th 2008 12:58PM Well how about you stick to your computer science and i'll stick to my 'useless liberal arts degree'. Liberal Arts by the way, are the core principles taught in all universities so unless you went to a specialist school you would have learned it too, although not very well I imagine.

I have read Karl Max's Communist Manifesto so I know what he's talking about. Here's a link FYI:

http://www.anu.edu.au/polsci/marx/classics/manifesto.html

In it, as you can see, Karl Max talks about the Bourgeoisie and the Proletariat, as I stated before so you are incorrect. Karl Max also EXTENSIVELY criticizes the Bourgeoisie (rich people) in this document as corrupting the normal worker and society, so again you cannot be right about the 'marxists' being rich people who hate capitalism because they are in fact normal people who hate capitalism.

Karl Marx was a thinker/philosopher, not a do-gooder who thought he knew better than everyone else what they wanted or needed. He, like other great thinkers of his generation merely speculated and thought up ideas which only became the basis of marxism after his death and you shouldn't take that out of context.

Furthermore, people who drive Audis, Mercedes or BMW can criticise american gas guzzlers because worldwide the cars are more fuel efficient. They don't all drive around with V6 or V8 engines, but are rather diesel or petrol cars with smaller displacement engines (1-2 Litre) which get great fuel economy, particularly in europe. Its only in the US that they get big engines. Maybe you should actually visit other places outside of Japan such as europe before making your misguided assumptions about german brands and american culture. I don't really care if you hate german cars and love your japanese cars thinking they are the most fuel economical, but don't go spewing crap before you know the facts.

And finally, the name is MAESTRO1, not Masetro. Maybe you should learn english first before you read these books so you can comprehend them properly. Every point i've made has been corroborated by the links i've provided and even by works you have mentioned, so its absurd of you to even suggest that I don't know what i've been talking about.

Seriously, stick to your computer science and economics and leave the liberal arts and politics to those who actually know something about it.

May 12th 2008 12:27PM It would be pointless for Audi to give this thing only 268hp since the Mercedes-Benz C350 got derided by car magazines for only having that amount in comparison to its competitors, so we'll most likely see 300hp from this engine.

After all, putting in all the effort for a new platform to compete with the latest 3 series and then putting in an underpowered engine would undermine Audi's efforts to gain market share because nobody would buy them if they could get more power for the price somewhere else.

May 12th 2008 12:16PM And by the way, Burma is ruled by a military junta. Its more of a dictatorship than the communism used in russia.

May 12th 2008 12:09PM Well genius, type in Marxist on that same website and see what you get. Since you're probably too stubborn to do so i'll do it for you:

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/marxist

I don't know why you're making connections between german cars and marxists but you are certainly incorrect. Marxism criticised capitalism as a class struggle which was based on production as a means of subsistence and thus locked society into two distinct classes: the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. Your website may describe it as the middle class but its subjective and some people call it the middle class while others call it the upper class. People who are at the high end of the wealth ladder rarely criticise their place in society so no, marxists weren't all rich people if they are the original socialists.

Either way, you can rant all you want but i've studied sociology and am a history major. If you don't believe me go read Andrew Heywood's Political Ideologies for proof of what i've said, unless your eighth grade class thinks those types of books are too complex.

May 12th 2008 11:04AM Incorrect again. Marxists are followers of the writings of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.

Bourgeoisie are rich people. Petitbourgeoisie are middle class. Proletariat are the poor people.

Station wagons differed from today's SUVs because they didn't have monster gas-guzzling engines. Hopefully people will be more keen on hatchbacks from now on.

May 12th 2008 10:28AM You need to look up what a Marxist actually is.

If you're referring to rich people the word is Bourgeoisie. Poor people are known as the Proletariat.

And yes, people don't jump on German cars as much because the cars with the really big engines are only bought in lower volumes than the majority which use smaller engines. Americans still insist on building large gas-guzzling SUVs despite the oil problems and look at how they're faring on the dealership lots. These cars don't suffer nearly the same problems because only a small number of people buy them vs. the majority.
