Enter the Rumormill: Ford considering F-100 small pickup {Autoblog}

May 12th 2008 2:38PM Sorry, but your math is incorrect. 90% of the length does not equal 90% of the size, because there are three dimensions to consider (length x width x height.) A theoretical truck 90% of the length of the F150 (assuming it's scaled down correspondingly) would be 0.9x0.9x0.9 = about 73% of the size, which is exactly what many commenters are calling for.

Now back to the article, they state nearly 9/10 the SIZE of an F150, which means, assuming similar proportions, about 96.5% of the length. 0.965x0.965x0.965 = a little less than 90% of the size.

If the article had stated 9/10 SCALE your math would be correct, but it did not.

HSV Tourer super-wagon set to haul stuff, ass {Autoblog}

May 12th 2008 11:56AM Totally want one. Oh well, guess I'll have to stick with the Germans to get a hot wagon.

Hyundai launches i800 full-size van in Europe {Autoblog}

May 8th 2008 9:04PM Hyundai full-size vans are common in the Caribbean; I see them all the time when I vacation in St. Maarten/St. Martin. They are often used as taxis (along with Toyotas.)

To sell in the US though, at least in any significant numbers, it would need a real engine.

It's the limo from now on: Nickleback singer gets driving ban {Autoblog}

May 4th 2008 8:40PM Hey I must admit I actually enjoy Nickelback's music, but did anyone else catch this? Kroeger's lawyer, Marvin Stern, said "the case had been an intrusion into the star's life."

Whoa sorry, what if he'd killed someone while driving drunk? Would that also have been an intrusion into the star's life? Pathetic.

Nissan 360: the Otti and the Moco {Autoblog}

May 1st 2008 11:15AM 35% of the Japanese market; sounds pretty typical to me. And the purchase price of the car is only a small percentage of the total cost of ownership in Japan; taxes, insurance, maintenance, inspections, gasoline and parking tend to be much higher.

I realize not all Japanese drive tiny cars. My roommate in college was from Japan, and her mother drove a Range Rover (in Tokyo!) Of course, they were filthy rich.

Rendered Speculation: BMW's baby Isetta {Autoblog}

Apr 30th 2008 4:12PM Well obviously Bangle finally got his hands on it, and um, "Bangled" it. So much for the return of the Isetta.

Nissan 360: the Otti and the Moco {Autoblog}

Apr 30th 2008 2:10PM Cute, but there's a reason why they don't sell here. These are the cars the average person in Japan drives, because only the wealthiest Japanese can AFFORD to drive the types of vehicles most Americans drive everyday.

We don't realize how privileged we are compared to most of the world.

eBay Find of the Day: 2009 BMW 7 Series front bumper? {Autoblog}

Apr 29th 2008 11:24PM Who wants to bet that if this is real, BMW will either get it pulled by eBay or pay off the seller? Preproduction parts on eBay doesn't look too good for BMW.

U.S. Postal Service to celebrate the tailfin starting in October {Autoblog}

Apr 25th 2008 8:13PM Crap, the cost of a stamp will be going up to 42 cents?

Oh well, I'll be buying these for sure.

Chevy offering up new Malibu with four-cylinder engine {Autoblog}

Apr 23rd 2008 1:19PM "The lone downgrade of note?" Like others above, I'd actually prefer 17" wheels on New England roads. But how about the obvious downgrade that you only get 169 hp versus 252 hp?
