Future Classic: 1984 Chrysler Minivans {Autoblog}

May 9th 2008 2:15PM Maybe because he was a racist in disguise, and besides the mild success of the "K-car" and the Caravan/Voyager he really did not do much afterwards to sustain the company momentum. He's living the halo effect based on this early success.
All I remember is that in one Chryslers badly thought out marketing commercials, he said "if you can find a better car, buy it..." we'll, many people did find better cars in Toyota and Honda and bought plenty of them and never looked back.
Fortunately, unfortunately, after two Voyagers, we left and never went back, and never will with the current crop of Chrysler crap.

Future Classic: 1984 Chrysler Minivans {Autoblog}

May 9th 2008 12:55PM Our family took the plunge in '84 and got a Voyager SE with the 2.2L I believe it was 4 cylinder from Mitsubishi. It ran very well up to 90K, until my dad trashed it against a guard rail one winter evening. It was "special" for it's time, that's for sure. The original, but not the best, that's for sure. The one picture with the headrest for the front passengers, I'm not sure, but I don't think the original '84 model had that. I remember all the seats, including driver and front passenger not having head rests, so the vehicle was pretty much a "whiplash" death trap for 7 people... we were crazy enough to get a '90 Voyager Grand SE afterwards and that had the headrests for sure. Ahhhh.... the "good" ole days of driving around POS vehicles but not knowing better....

May 6th 2008 3:17PM Plastic pedals? What next, Reynolds Wrap windows? Come on, there are some things that due to it's excessive use and potential for over stressing, just can not be done with plastic, and this is one of them. Oh well, atleast he had an excuse for losing to the STi.

Chrysler to guarantee gas at $2.99 a gallon! For three years! {Autoblog}

May 6th 2008 9:27AM All these plans and "gimmicks" are only as good as long as the company actually stays in business and doesn't go OOB. $2.99 for 3 years, life time warranty, all are great ideas, but how much is Chrysler making on each car that they offer these things and can actually sustain anything through the life of the car. I know, that if I buy a Chrysler, I will have the piece of mind of lifetime on powertrain, but I KNOW FOR SURE, that I will pay a trip to the dealer at around 90K to get either the engine or transmission done and I'll lose a week here and there on repairs. If they go under in five years, then I'm stuck with a very big paper weight.

Get 'em while they're not hot! Dodge Rams going for $13k below MSRP {Autoblog}

May 5th 2008 11:15AM Under $3/gal? I don't think politics or anything is going to bring prices back down to under $3. I think $3-ish is the new price to stay. Hopefully $3 stays longer than $2 did.

"Hello dad, I totaled your Ferrari - what time is dinner?" {Autoblog}

Honda Legend facelift leaks out {Autoblog}

May 5th 2008 9:29AM Although Acura came out before Lexus, it's always played a follower role. Trying to match what Lexus/MB/BMW have to offer, including alphanumeric naming. I personally liked the named vehicles, Legend, Vigor, and of course Integra. Just like Accord and Civic, you hear the name and you know exactly what vehicle it is. RL, TL, TSX, NSX, who can remember which is which, unless you specifically know the make and model. Also, why is the TSX a TSX? X usually denotes an AWD platform...

Spied? BMW M1 Prototype caught undisguised (maybe) {Autoblog}

May 4th 2008 9:16PM I say it's PS'd. The angles don't seem to flow and the area behind the back of door edge looks strange. Even if not, the vehicle doesn't do much for me, from the funky hood to the NSX doors.

Corvette ZR1 engineer says GT-R won't be King of the 'Ring for long {Autoblog}

May 2nd 2008 2:36PM Hey, before the match, everyone can talk smack and lay it on for show... but once the big show is on, it's time to walk the walk after talking the talk and I think ZR1 will be all talk. Long stretches of straight road on N-track won't be enough to make up what the ZR-1 is going to lose on the tight turns where it will lose out precious seconds. I say GT-R still wins by 10 seconds min. Then we'll have the after fight reasons for why the numbers did not live up to the talk... boo hoo...

Honda issues TSB for third-gear issue, fix is free {Autoblog}

May 1st 2008 9:36PM Shame shame on you Honda. Letting this drag this long and having so many owners affected. Also, this was on the Si, which people are paying big bucks... tsk tsk. Maybe they'll be a little quicker to correct issues, now that the domestic are creeping up on their rear view mirrors on reliability.
