Nov 20th 2007 12:44PM "I just feel like a sport should involve some real world, applicable, relevant purpose"
What real world purpose does hockey serve? Let's not be a hypocrite here, what sport in general serves a real world purpose? Football? Baseball? Etc, they serve no "real world" purpose.
LA 2007: U.S.-spec Nissan GT-R huge performance bargain at $69,850 {Autoblog}
Nov 14th 2007 5:51PM Nagg's you're just as bad as the GTR fanboys by being a die hard Corvette/domestic fanboy.
You show some basic understanding of physics but you don't understand how an AWD system can be more beneficial than straight RWD? Why would companies, who no offense, hire people incredibly more intelligent than you, spend billions on researching and producing AWD systems if as you say "There are no real world benefits that outweigh the weight addition".
The Corvette's antiquated suspension and full RWD system don't hold a candle to a well designed AWD system. I'm not going to explain the dynamics of torque distribution through cornering and handling, there are plenty of articles on that already (and why AWD is superior).
I don't claim to know which is faster, the Z06 or the GTR. Most likely it will depend on the driver and the track. Based on what I've seen, I feel confident in the notion that the GTR will be a more comfortable and better handling vehicle, seating four and offering a level of refinement that the corvette does not offer.
The Corvette however being lighter and with the torquey as hell V8 will most likely overcome the twin turbo awd setup.
I definitely want to point out not to bash the AWD setups because they've shown to be ruthlessly effective against large displacement V8's in the lower end of the market. The STi's and EVO's decimate Mustang GT's, especially when handling is involved. The STi is also considered to come very close to the current GTO.
But at the end of the day no one will agree because once again, it's pure American displacement versus Japanese technology. Americans think that the more liters and ft/lbs you have the more superior you are, while the Japanese keep adding turbochargers, sophisticated transmissions and all wheel drive systems.
I think however this will truly be a great competition and solid offering by Nissan to enter this level of the market.
The EVE Challenge {Massively}
Nov 13th 2007 7:58PM Eve plays out like real life with the economics and politics and thats very interesting. I love reading articles on it and I'm sure for the players that have the time to be devoted to such lofty reaches that's great.
Some of us want to log in, kill shit and hang with friends, make some progress and log off. We don't really need an entirely player driven economy backed controlled and manipulated by several player corporations, etc etc.
I dunno theres something for everyone but as the market has shown, Eve is for the few, not for the many. Even with a good tutorial the game is exactly like what the above poster said, Excel with a space screensaver (or a text based mud, that happens to have graphics, lol).
It's not for everyone, or even most people.
The EVE Challenge {Massively}
Nov 13th 2007 7:13PM Never been a fan of Eve. I'm constantly amazed how a genre made so exciting by games of legend like X-Wing vs TIE Fighter can be made to be so incredibly dull by a game like Eve Online.
The Daily Grind: Best character creation {Massively}
Nov 11th 2007 9:26AM Star Wars Galaxies had an incredibly powerful character creation tool for it's time. You could control many aspects of the face and body similar to The Sim's (brow, nose, ears, chin etc). You couldn't control equipment/outfit, but half the fun of an MMO is getting the equipment, not starting looking badass.
Everquest 2 has a pretty impressive generator right now, you can make some cool looking characters in that game.
WoW, LotRO, GW - I am severely unimpressed with.

Oct 10th 2007 9:56PM Duuuuuuude! I'm from GA and our official (Sports) Car is DEFINITELY the Panoz Esperante! Panoz ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panoz ) is located out of Georgia, and they make some great sports cars.
One of the better small vehicle companies out there, if you ask me...

Quaint, another fanboy.
My PC will outplay any game that your Mac. Regardless of your setup. Regardless of your options. Regardless of how many thousands and thousands you spent.
I will get better framerates in every single game I play. My games will load faster. They will run more stably.
Photoshop will run faster. It will open and save faster.
Why? Because building my PC means that I have access the parts incredibly more powerful than any mac. Sure, the MacPro's are very well built machines, and very powerful. But without a good RAID setup, they're harddrive limited. And, you either get a Quaddro card (Not so good for anything but rendering) or a last-gen card.
Mac's don't get current generation video hardware -- period.
Nor do you get name brand low latency memory.
Or incredibly well built motherboards by the best-of-the-best companies like Asus.
My PC "just works". With the right drivers and a solid build, it's never crashed once.
But hey, keep stroking your mac ego and validating your purchase. I'll laugh all the way to the bank knowing that this gamer built a much better gaming and everyday use machine for no more than half the cost.
Wheels could fall off on 182,000 recalled Honda Civics {Autoblog}
Sep 14th 2007 11:33PM Let's see of the 07 models, (Front/Pass/Side) Mustang was 5/5/4 Crown Vic was 5/5/5, Taurus was 4/5/3, Fusion was 4/4/5, Focus is 4/4/3, 500 is 5/5/5.
Honda 07 cars, Civic is 5/5/4, S2000 is 4/4/5, Fit is 5/5/5, Accord is 5/5/4.
Honda has less cars on the market, but the average for Honda is 4.75/4.75/4.5
Ford average is: 4.5/4.6/4.16
Honda's averages are better in all three categories, and Honda's scores are bolstered by with the tanks that are the 500 and the Crown Vic.
But hey, you said they have MORE models with a 5 star, which definitely looks true, since they make more models in total. Take more shots, more guaranteed to get a hit, eh?
