Porsche Spy Shots

Porsche is a brand of high-end luxury and sportscars with headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. Founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche, the company is best known for the 911 that's been on sale since 1964. It's also credited with designing the original Volkswagen Beetle in the 1930s under contract for the German government. This connection with Volkswagen exists today, as the latter became full owner of Porsche in July 2012.

Spy Shots: Porsche 911 GT2 facelift caught 'Ring running
    1271790060

Our spies have just captured the slightly revised Porsche 911 GT2 doing what it does best – storming around a track (the Nürburgring, specifically). The removal of foglamps and a more pronounced chin spoiler set the hardcore 911 apart from its lesser Turbo brethren, and rest assured, the big GT2 wing is still intact. Official details haven't ...

Alleged patent images for Porsche Panamera convertible turn up
    1268337600

See, apparently we aren't crazy, though we may have been a little smidge off the mark. Back in October, we reported that Porsche had begun work on an open top version of their then new Panamera super sedan. Only we said it would be a two-door 'cause, you know, drop top and all that. Whoops! If these alleged German patent office images from Autocar are ...

Spy Shots: 2011 Porsche 911 Convertible
    1266539100

The latest round of Porsche 911 spy shots showed the coupe undergoing cold weather testing, and now our frost-bitten shooters have caught the convertible ahead of its reveal later this year. Being a 911, the stylistic changes won't be revolutionary, but we've gotten word from insiders that active aerodynamics are part of the package (think the Ferrari ...

2011 Porsche Cayenne leaks ahead of Geneva debut
    1266429600

While we've seen several spy shots of 2011 Porsche Cayenne prototypes and mules, plus a few renderings that purport to show the real deal, Porsche apparently let the cat out of the bag by mistake... again. On the Porsche website, an image that shows the 2011 Cayenne right in the middle of a family picture magically appeared and was apparently swapped out ...

Spy Shots: Prototype 2011 Volkswagen Touareg caught naked?
    1259276280

Hey there, odd looking, what you got cooking? Yes, we're pretty positive you're looking (or about to be looking) at the 2011 Volkswagen Touareg caught without its robe on. Visually speaking, not much has changed. The front clip and hood look more in line with the sixth generation Golf/GTI. From behind, you can see an awful lot of Porsche Cayenne – ...

Spy Shot? Porsche Cayman Shooting Brake revealed?
    1249662660

Yes, well, wouldn't this be something. We've heard rumors and innuendo concerning the supposed Porsche Cayman Shooting Brake. In many ways, a shooting brake (also properly spelled with a hyphen -- shooting-brake) is the perfect vehicle. Small and light like a sports car, but capable and practical like a station wagon. Combine chocolate with peanut butter ...

Spy Shots: Is this Porsche 911 mule hiding a shocking secret?
    1248789300

No automaker is immune to global environmental pressures to reduce pollutants and limit carbon dioxide emissions. Even Porsche has gotten into the green game with both diesel and hybrid options for its Cayenne along with an expected hybrid powertrain for its Panamara range. Could that fuel-saving technology make a move closer to Porsche's sportscar roots? ...

Spy Video: Porsche Cayman Shooting Brake caught on camera phone?
    1247093880

Camera phones are turning into quite an asset in this business, as readers of various automotive news sites across the interwebs and around the world have turned into legions of spy photographers. In this instance, one such reader-turned-paparazzo (apparently in Italy, no less) caught on video what appears to be some sort of Porsche Cayman Shooting Brake ...

Spy Shots: Next-gen Porsche 911 sporting double-bubble roof
    1246664640

With every iteration of the 911, Porsche makes incremental improvements to its iconic sports car and naturally, the next generation will be no exception. This latest 911 prototype was caught at the Nurburgring sporting 997 sheetmetal, but it's what's on top and out back that deserves note. A double-bubble roof panel has been fitted, while underneath the ...

Spy Shots: Porsche working on Boxster Speedster?
    1240961220

The Speedster variants Porsche made out of its 911 range in the '80s and '90s went down as one of the most iconic in the company's history. But with the Boxster already in the line-up, making a 911 Speedster today would make about as much sense as, um.... mounting a flat six behind the rear axle. So what are they preparing instead? Well, if these spy shots ...

Spy Shots: 2012 Porsche Boxster already running the Nürburgring?
    1239020820

Think Porsche designers are too busy drawing up cell phones and special-edition sport-utes to care about the roadster that put the brand back on the map and on the path to acquiring the Volkswagen auto empire? Think again. The Stuttgart-based automaker just took the veil off its new 2009 Boxster back in November, and already they're working on the next ...

But now that the latest GT3 has been released, only the most powerful versions await an update. Up next are ...

Spy Shots: 2012 Porsche 911 in a winter wonderland
    1233009660

It must be slightly frustrating buying a new Porsche 911 these days, because there always seems to be something newer and better coming around the corner. Buy a new Carrera, and within a couple of months there's a new Turbo or GT3 you want more. Wait for the Turbo or GT3 and there's a new GT2 coming out. Wait for the GT2 and already it's outdated because ...

Spy Shots: Next-gen Porsche Boxster caught testing
    1232738700

Porsche just unveiled improved versions of its Boxster and Cayman at the 2008 LA Auto Show last November, but they're already hard at work on the next all-new Boxster that's still a few years out. Destined for a debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the next Boxster will reportedly feature all-new sheetmetal with sources saying not a single body panel will ...

Spy Shots: New Porsche 911 GT3 RS
    1231342260

With the coupe, cabrio, targa and turbo variants of the latest Porsche 911 already out on the road, Zuffenhausen is preparing similar updates for its flyweight road rocket, the GT3 RS. Test mules have been spotted roaming the French alps, which in this season would probably be the last place we'd want to drive a rear-engined, rear-wheel-drive track car. But ...

Porsche Panamera interior caught in color
    1230494460

Someone has scanned a photo of what looks to be a production-level Panamera interior. The fact that it's dressed up in brown leather probably will probably be lipstick on a warthog for those who revile it in pre-production form. Of course the number of buttons has been a major item of discussion, but there aren't that many more buttons compared to the 911 ...

Spy Shots: New Porsche Cayenne interior spotted
    1230301800

It appears to be official: the Panamera interior that this particular blogger loves but has been almost universally reviled by everyone else is Porsche's new interior design language. A refreshed Cayenne has been photographed with an instrument panel directly descended from that of the Panamera four-door super "coupe" (sedan, really). The new Cayenne center ...

    Spy Shots: 998 Porsche 911
    1227803280

The next Porsche 911, the 998, is doing the rounds on German public roads. By the looks of it, the headlights are more vertical than the current model, and based on what's covered, the front and rear bumpers and valances will see the majority of the work. Intriguingly, the side mirrors on the car are from the 993, which we imagine are for testing purposes ...

Porsche Panamera key looks like... Porsche Panamera
    1225385940

What you're looking at is a Porsche Panamera key. Arguably, it's better looking than the Panamera prototypes currently racking up more frequent flier miles than the Travelocity gnome. But we think it will take up all kinds of awkward space in your pocket and won't play nice with other keys. Perhaps Porsche should offer a man bag with every Panamera ...
