Porsche Spy Shots

Porsche is a brand of high-end luxury and sportscars with headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. Founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche, the company is best known for the 911 that's been on sale since 1964. It's also credited with designing the original Volkswagen Beetle in the 1930s under contract for the German government. This connection with Volkswagen exists today, as the latter became full owner of Porsche in July 2012.

Spy Shots: Porsche Cayenne spied unconstrained by camouflage
    1402011060

Meet the facelifted Porsche Cayenne. Our eagle-eyed spy shooters captured this example of Porsche's freshened SUV virtually devoid of camo, giving us our clearest look yet at what the eventual mid-cycle work will do to the strong-selling Cayenne. The overall changes do, indeed, look minor, with a reprofiled intake being the most obvious item. The ...

Spy Shots: Porsche testing new 911 GTS
    1401278520

Porsche may have one more vehicle in its stable with the GTS moniker, if these spy shots are any indication. They show off the presumed 911 GTS lapping the track – the model meant to slide in under the GT3 to be a bit more driver-friendly but still very fast alternative to a stock Carrera. At first glance, it might look like any other 911, but the ...

Spy Shots: Porsche Cayman GT4 spotted at the Nürburgring
    1399995120

It was just the other day that we first caught wind of Porsche's plans to build a GT4 version of the Cayman, and now we're already looking at spy shots of the vehicle in question undergoing testing at – where else? - the Nürburgring. With more aggressive front-end aero, a GT3-style air vent ahead of the front hood, a large wing at the back, ...

Spy Shots: Porsche testing four-cylinder Boxster at the Nürburgring
    1399641300

Porsche recently introduced a four-cylinder version of the new Macan for markets outside of North America, carrying Zuffenhausen's first four-pot since the 968 ended its production run the better part of two decades ago. But you can bet the compact crossover won't be the only Porsche to get the four banger before all's said and done. These spy shots, ...

Spy Shots: Are you the next Porsche 911 GT3 RS or GT2?
    1397751660

Porsche typically keeps to a suitably fast schedule when it comes to rolling out increasingly hard-core performance versions of the 911. After the 997 Carrera debuted in 2004, the GT3 version followed in 2006, and by the end of the 2007, Porsche had rolled out both the GT3 RS and GT2 versions. Then the facelifted 997.5 came out in 2008 and it was back to ...

Spy Shots: Porsche Cayenne shows a bit more face, plug-in spotted
    1394838840

Porsche was first rumored to be working on a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the Cayenne over a year ago. However, we had never seen it, until now. The new model was caught almost completely undisguised while testing. In another stroke of luck, we got a glimpse of the upcoming facelift for Porsche's SUV (pictured above) as well. According to the spy ...

Spy Shots: Mysterious Porsche 911 Cabriolet spied, could be GTS
    1394494140

While Porsche's designers can jokingly be accused of being some of the laziest in the industry due to the incremental changes to the 911's iconic design, no such charge can be leveled against the engineers and product planning folks. That's because it seems like each week arrives with news of a new variation of the marque's iconic rear-engined sports car. ...

Spy Shots: Porsche continues facelift spree with 911 Turbo
    1390599000

If there's ever been automotive case for constant evolution, it is the Porsche 911. It seems like every time a new version of the rear-engined sports car debuts, Porsche is already hard at work on a facelifted version of it that changes some subtle, barely noticeable aspect. Such is the case with this round of images of a facelifted 911 Turbo, which was ...

Spy Shots: Porsche 911 Cabriolet refresh may hide new engine
    1390428900

If we learned nothing else from our recent frolic through Porsche's secret museum, it's that the automaker goes to incredible lengths to disguise future products during initial testing. Just as a number of cars in that Stuttgart bunker hid the true identity of developmental mules (like the Audi-V8-powered 911), such could very well be the case with these ...

Spy Shots: Porsche Cayman, Boxster caught in GTS trim
    1390075200

A few months ago, we reported on some leaked information from an internal presentation for upcoming Porsche models. This included details about the Macan and the 911 Targa, which we now know to be true, but there was also talk about GTS versions of the Cayman and Boxster. Well, it appears we're now getting our first look at these GTS models, as our spy ...

Spy Shots: Porsche 911 already testing next refresh
    1386786600

The latest Porsche 911 may still be a newer car, but that hasn't stopped the German company from starting development of a facelifted version of the rear-engined sports car, testing in what looks like southern Europe. Due to hit the market in 2015, our spies think what we're seeing here is the new GTS variant, which, following the evolution of the ...

Report: Porsche patent sketches show removable headrest wind deflector
    1382385600

While driving around in a convertible might seem glamorous, ask anyone with long hair and they'll likely tell you how it really is: the wind buffets, your hair goes everywhere and it's anything but glamorous. That's why you see so many convertibles driving with their tops up, their windows up or wind deflectors in place. But Porsche is apparently ...

Spy Shots: Porsche Macan caught completely uncovered
    1375306260

Porsche is preparing to launch its sub-Cayenne CUV, with a suspected debut at the 2013 Los Angeles International Auto Show, which means we're right about at the point where undisguised models start scampering around the cities and towns of Germany. Our spy photographers snagged just such a model, with only the headlights and taillights concealed by ...

Report: Jaguar F-Type coupe to cost more than convertible?
    1375196340

Jaguar may price the much-rumored F-Type Coupe above the F-Type Convertible, if a report from Australia's Drive is to be believed. What makes Jag think that such a pricing strategy would work? Porsche. Take a look at the German manufacturer's consumer site, and you'll notice that the Boxster is less expensive than the Cayman, despite being essentially the ...

Spy Shots: 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet spotted testing in the nude
    1373995860

The Porsche 911 wouldn't be the Porsche 911 unless there were twenty-something different models to choose from (note: we are not complaining), and the latest one was just spied by our trusty photographers out on Germany's Nürburgring. Feast your eyes on the 911 Turbo Cabriolet – the droptop version of the new Turbo wonder that debuted in May ...

Spy Shots: Porsche 911 GT2 caught testing, is super bad
    1372354320

Look what spy photographers have spotted sprinting around the Nürburgring. Our shooters nabbed a few photos of the all-new Porsche 911 GT2 in its native habitat without any of the bulky camouflage or cladding we're used to seeing. The result is our first truly clear view at the upcoming successor to the GT2 throne. From the looks of it, the new model ...

Spy Shots: See what the Chevy C7 ZR1 may be benchmarked against
    1367940420

One of the greatest things every Corvette has had going for it, and also one of the most re-used arguments against it, is its price-to-performance equation - long before the Nissan GT-R became the de facto Porsche 911 comparator the Corvette spent decades as Exhibit A. Depending on which side of the argument you stressed, supporters crowed about how much ...

Spy Shots: 2015 Porsche Cayenne spotted with facelift
    1365018300

Although it's only been a few years since the current Porsche Cayenne was introduced, Porsche seems to be working on a midcycle update for its big SUV possibly in time to welcome the smaller Macan. As seen in these recent spy shots, it looks like the Cayenne will be getting a minor face- and butt-lift, but it's hard to say what other changes are in store ...

Spy Shots: Porsche Macan spied, all lit up and dodging flurries
    1358459880

We've seen the upcoming Porsche Macan testing on surface roads and even on the Nürburgring, but here we have our first spy shots showing a disguised prototype doing some winter testing in snowy conditions. Still obscured by plenty of camouflage attempting to mimic its larger Cayenne sibling, we still can't get a clear look at what the Macan's face ...

Report: Production Porsche 918 Spyder images leak out of Chinese patent office
    1356539100

A few images of what looks to be the production Porsche 918 Spyder are here to say hello, courtesy of a patent office in China. If these provide an accurate look at what the hybrid supercar will look like, there are a few differences between it and the latest examples of the pre-production prototypes our spy shooters have seen. The jerry-rigged turn ...
