I'm pretty sure that the Shelby uses the 5.4L SOHC V-8 plus supercharger.
The regular GT has the 4.6L SOHC V-8.

Andrew's correct - SOHC 4.6L = Mustang GT (and Bullitt). Shelby GT500 = DOHC 5.4L.

Actually, there is a difference. There is a Shelby GT and then there is a Shelby GT500. The article is correct when it references this engine being in the Shelby GT / Bullitt.
Since I own the former, I'm fairly certain (about 110%) that to be true.
GT500 - 5.4L w/Supercharger
Shebly GT/Bullitt - 4.6L we're looking at here
Mustang GT - 4.6L "basic" if you will

Shelby GT uses the same 4.6L SOHC engine as the base Mustang GT but with a air intake/new tune that gives it some additional HP. They are mechanically speaking the same engine though. An aftermarket intake/tune on a Base Mustang GT will yield greater performance than the Shelby GT set-up.

4.6L & 5.4L ENGINE ARE IDENTICAL(EXCEPT THE DISPLACEMENT), GT500 HAS FACTORY SUPERCHARGER AND LOTS OF EXTRA STUFF. MUSTANGS, OLD T-BIRDS(MID 90S), F-SERIES(MID 90S AND NEWER), CROWN VICTORIAS, GRAND MARQUIS,
LINCOLNS, ETC. THEY ALL USE THE SAME ENGINES. BACK IN THE 90S THEY HAD 2
VERSIONS ON CYLINDER HEADS(WINDSOR AND ROMEO) THAT WAS DIFFERENT.
