The car looks bad-ass and if someone gave me the keys I'd be stoked, but Knight Rider was supposed to be a cool, sleek car. Not some drag racing Ford. It sucks when product placement gets in the way of telling the story.
Its ugly. i hope they blow it up and bring out a 98-02 Trans Am. If your gonna update Kitt You update Kitt; you dont go out and turn the Dukes of hazzard car a green Rx8 do you ? you don't go out and make starky and hutch drive a honda just because they dont make torinos any more. My point is this is an embarassment to Knight Rider, David Hasselhoff is the biggest sell out; I would have never thought he would betray Kitt In such a way as to letting them make it a Mustang. Who cares if it has 500+hp and can do burn outs; Honestly any Trans Am, Camaro, Or Corvette could do a better job and lets remember its a show; HP doesn't count unless your on a track or real street. With cameras all you gotta do is use movie magic and you have 1,500hp and nobody would know the difference. I blame NBC for green lighting this hideous project, I blame David Hasselhoff for approving this rediculous project and I blame Gm and Pontiac for giving the network a lack of options. In the 80's this show ushered in the "new" Trans Am.... Why not a better time than now to usher in yet another New Trans Am. Thanks GM because of you i am now a former Knight Rider fan.
This is just a terrible idea all rough. Agree with most hating comments on this site. Most cars on LA streets can be compared this dumb car that cant turn well.
Might as well made the show Knightrazor featuring the new razor scooter. I would have been more curious.
Bumblebee's a Camaro, why not a change for KITT? Why should they regurgitate the same cars they used years ago? A theoretical real Knight Industries would be developing for the most appropriate cars of the time, based on tenders and contracts established with automakers. They wouldn't be all "it must be a TransAm". For gawdsake, there isn't even a TransAm in production, so how can you be bitching about this? What, they should use old, used cars, instead of nice shiny new ones?
The series itself, I reserve judgement until I see it. But the car is great, a really good pick. Seriously, what other current production car is there out there at the moment that will rival this? In looks, availability, local (US) content, power and performance, and recognition? What, you want them to drag out a Viper?
Now I want my Grimlock Alternator figure to be repainted like this -- got to find someone to kitbash it (no pun intended).
I think they have a good start. It needs a little work though. Take that stripe off the hood. Kitt must be pure black... no chrome wheels. Take off the cobra symbols. Kitt can't have any advertisements on him. Beef up the dash board and electronics. The old kitt shouldn't look more futuristic then the new one. The red kitt light should be one piece not two. That should do it. I know how you guys feel. We all love the original kitt, but we have to be realistic. How are all the fans going to run and get a third gen firebird. This way, we can all get a brand new car and fix it up like the current kitt. Besides, they have to think of the new generation of fans as well as the old. The new mustang GT has 300 horse power, way more then the old fire birds. If GM brought back their third gen firebird, I would be the furst to buy it. But they changed it, and I don't like it. If you put a kitt nose on a new mustang, it would look very much like the original kitt. So I hope we can all hope for the best and don't be so craby about it. Not yet anyways. If the show sucks, then we can bash on it =)
I remember the same gripping when the GTO (which would have been cool as KITT) didn't have hood scoops (OH NO!!) and wasn't a "real Goat." (then they Killed it, It truly is a GREAT car) Or how about when the the new Charger was only available with FOUR doors, never mind that you can't buy a new Hemi powered Mopar with a manual transmission! It has become a sad state of affairs where the powers that be are motivated by money, what sells and not by (automotive) passion. I will watch the new Knight Rider because I watched the old one, Viper and The Dukes Of Hazzard. I like Car shows. I nearly Passed Out when Charlie Crews started Driving a Grand National. (that had intercoolers and a very strange V-8 sound. Yet another example of TV people messing up automotive history by depicting it poorly in Pop culture.)

Does this just seem lame to anyone else?
