I rather like it too, now I look again. It's a big four door hatchback. Like a low skulking thing, with a certain menace - for people who like that!.
I adore the Maserati, which is the most beautiful four door saloon, but this is a real change. We surely have enough Audis, Lexuses (yawn) and Mercedes etc. to be going on with.
It looks great from the side and front, natch, but the rear is "butt ugly"--pun intended. I thought it was some custom makers idea of a stretch limo Porsche at first glance. All I can say is it better go faster and have more BHP than Aston?
I want to like this car, however I don't. For some reason Porsche's design language doesn't seem to translate well to cars beyond classic roadsters. (The Cayenne looks like it took it's design cues from a 1950's amphibious car.) Something just looks all wrong with the Panerma. It doesn't seem to know what it wants to be... Is it a four door coupe? Is it a luxury sport sedan? Whatever the case, it looks very retro-futuristic to my eye. Maybe that's what the Porsche design team had in mind, however it doesn't have the aesthetic appeal of a Carrera, or even a Boxter. It also looks a bit Nissan from the side view. Porsche may find some very limited interest among Porsche enthusiasts, however I see this car as having about as much commercial success as some past Porsche projects, such as the infamous 944.
The Panamera that we see today is simply a test mule. From what I know of Porsche they will storm the market for sedans the same way they surprised it with the Cayenne.
It's a bird, it's a plane, no it's a bat porchsemobile...heehe...just kiddin. Smile!!!
Very Interesting designs for Porsche's new Panamera. (A Porsche for the Family lifestyle) Interesting approach for Porsche. I think that Porsche aficionados are use to seeing two door sports coupes. I believe the new Panamera looks like it belongs in an elite fleet of vehicles for security teams/bodyguards...Interesting.
I like Porshce new family lifestyle approach. However, I would agree with some of the comments about Porshce's Panamera. I believe the new Panamera has room for a little improvement. I would like to see design improvement to the rear of Panamera-(perhaps, a different spoiler/extended trunk area) Overall, very interesting approach and ideas from Porshe.

Something different - good.

I agree with you, Colin. Can someone explain what is so wrong with this car please?
Then again, I quite liked the Cayenne and hated the BMW X5, both contrary to popular opinion!
