We saw a lot of neat stuff this year.

Every year we spend a good chunk of our time trotting the globe patrolling auto shows. From Detroit to Paris, important vehicles are unveiled almost monthly. But which ones created the most buzz? Here's our list of the most exciting reveals of 2016.

Detroit Auto Show: Nissan Titan Warrior Concept

The Detroit show, also known as the North American International Auto Show, is one of the busiest in the world. The Nissan Titan Warrior concept edged out the rest of a crowded field with its stunning looks and go-anywhere capability. It's wider and taller than the conventional Titan XD on which it's based and has an off-road suspension designed to conquer Baja racing. A turbodiesel V8 powers this monster. Let's hope Nissan decides it needs a halo truck, because this would be a good one.

Chicago Auto Show: 2017 Chevy Camaro 1LE

The sharper-handling 2017 Chevy Camaro 1LE was easily the most exciting car in the Windy City. Based on the sixth-gen Camaro, the 1LE pack now comes with a choice of a V6 or a V8. Brembo brakes, sticky tires, magnetic ride control, and a new FE4 suspension are all standard with the V8. Recaro seats and a Performance Data Recorder are options for those who really want to wring this thing out on the track.

Geneva Motor Show: Koenigsegg Regera

The Geneva Motor Show is one of the most spectacular on Earth, with plenty of glitzy reveals, and the Koenigsegg Regera stood above everything there this year. This demon packs 1,500 horsepower capable of propelling it to 62 miles per hour in 2.8 seconds. With racecar looks, materials, and aerodynamics, the Regera is Koenigsegg's most impressive work to date. Oh, and it's a plug-in hybrid.

New York Auto Show: 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF

This targa-topped Miata was the big star in the Big Apple this year, stunning enthusiasts with its style and open-air performance. Called the MX-5 Miata RF, the sports car has buttresses in back that open up to enclose the roof. RF stands for retractable fastback, and it's a lot less awkward to say than the NC Miata's PRHT (power-retractable hardtop).

Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance: Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6

Mercedes-Maybach dropped jaws at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance with this concept designed to show off the scope of what Mercedes' ultra-luxury division can do. The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 is a huge coupe with long, swoopy proportions and a teardrop shape reminiscent of great cars of the 1930s. Despite its retro styling, the powertrain is forward-looking: 738 horsepower generated from four electric motors.

Paris Motor Show: Renault Trezor Concept

The most striking car at the Paris Motor Show was, not surprisingly, from a French company. The Renault Trezor concept turned heads with its flashy design and roof-lifting features. Renault says the Trezor can also operate autonomously and in sport mode, depending on the driver's preference.

Los Angeles Auto Show: 2017 Chevy Colorado ZR2

It's the Chevrolet off-road truck we've been waiting for. The Colorado ZR2 is a rugged four-wheeler that has a suspension from Multimatic (the guys who build the Ford GT, among other things), the same menacing looks as the 2014 concept, and an historic name. The ZR2 won our top award at the LA show, and it's one of our most-anticipated vehicles for 2017.

Consumer Electronics Show: Faraday Future FFZERO1

The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is essentially an auto show now, and carmakers of all sizes compete for the attention of the tech world. Faraday Future stood out the most at CES in 2016 with its FFZERO1 supercar concept that claimed to have 1,000 horsepower. We've learned a lot more since the reveal, including what's realistic and what's not, but the debut of the FFZERO1 remains a spotlight automotive event of 2016.

SEMA Show: Sung Kang EcoBoost 1972 Ford Maverick

SEMA is always a spectacle of impressive tuner rides from the aftermarket. This year, a 1972 Ford Maverick modernized with EcoBoost four-cylinder power stood out. The build was led by Fast and Furious actor Sung Kang, who oversaw three high school students that did the heavy lifting. The remarkable car is called Project Underdog, and it will be auctioned next year. The proceeds will help pay for the students' college educations.
