While he's still a fan, Mini's Peter Schwarzenbauer couldn't confirm if Mini would build the Superleggera Vision. He also cast doubt on the entry level Minor.

The Mini Superleggera Vision Concept reportedly has the green light for production from the BMW board and could be in showrooms as soon as 2018. The electric motor is likely being dropped for internal combustion engines, though.

Mini impressed us all when it revealed the Superleggera Vision concept at the Paris Motor Show a couple of months ago. But even before the little roadster concept debuted, there were already rumors of its production potential. A decision on whether or not to build the Mini Superleggera has been pushed back. Earlier this year, Mini's Peter Schwarzenbauer hinted that the electric roadster concept could eventually make its way to production. It could be argued that Mini has not built a pretty car since the R53, the first of the reborn Minis, was put out to pasture at the end of 2006. I've owned two R53s, so yes, I'm horribly biased. The styling situation in Oxford hasn't improved much for 2014, either, as the bigger, more frightened-looking Mini begins to arrive in dealerships, boasting a very un-Mini-like front overhang. This, though... this works.
