The last time Jaguar launched a really important new coupe, it launched its "Gorgeous" campaign to help sell it. The marquee television spot had a spare musical arrangement and actor Willem Dafoe narrating a montage of obscenely chic lifestyle scenes washed in cool tones. As a luxury proposition, it was certainly a gorgeous commercial.

Jaguar wants us all to know that it is hard at work on the new F-Type. Engineers have been busily wringing the convertible out over a test course ahead of its debut at this year's Paris Motor Show. We know that the new convertible will be offered with a pair of supercharged power plants, in both 3.0-liter V6 and 5.0-liter V8 variants. The six-cylinder should be good for up to 375 horsepower, though the video below promises appropriate power to weight and torque to weight ratios.

Jaguar is taking its still-in-development F-Type to the Goodwood Festival of Speed next month. Mike Cross, Jaguar's head of vehicle integrity, will be piloting the all-aluminum convertible up the hill, and we guess he'll probably have the 380-horsepower, supercharged V6 underhood that we'll see when the production car is introduced next year, though a V8 is also possible. We're just hoping that Jag sees fit to delete the F-filled camouflage on the model seen above and show us the car in all its
