Well personally I think people don't want to buy cars right now. With gas prices on the rise, I don't think having a "futuristic" interior will matter. WHY? Well, do we really know how much fuel is left in this world?? It is a non-renewable resource that will shortly be depleted and cars will no longer have any value. You want something "futuristic?" Design a vehicle that doesn't require any type of fuel!!!!!!!!!! Now would be something worth buying.
It's about time that GM (finally) gets away from that 1955 Buick concept. Honda, Toyota, Hundai and Nissan are (or were) light years ahead while GM cars have this nagging habit of looking like grampa's car inside and out.
Oh yes, great. Every greenie and liberal think they are engineers. "Lets have a car that uses water" "Lets make a car "that doesn't require any type of fuel!" Rule #1 in all things physics, energy can not be created (ie, wishful thinking or "good thoughts") nor destroyed. With that said, water ain't got no energy unless you invest energy into it!
They still don't understand their problem. Glitter and chrome with a touch of gold must be more appealing than working to eleminate their automotive deficiences. They have tried to help the auto in years...while the Japanese improved quality GM improved HP Nothing like a 500 Hp engine in a Cad to help the American people with a safer transportation mode.
How do you know fuel is a non-renewable resource. Their are some scientific theories explaining it. Think about it, how did the so-called "dyno Juice get so far into the ground. The Earth must have been so much smaller then, huh!
Yawn!! They used to change the knobs and speaker screens on radios and televisions in the 50's and 60's and pass them off as futuristic. The real problem is we're dealing with 100+ year old technology - it's still a combustion engine! Let's get creative...how about a safe passenger pod that can with withstand impacts and float, attached to a propulsion sled. Ditch the knobs on the dashboard and go with a wrap around touch LED display! Use the GPS technology to prevent collisions. For the short-term, just copy Volvo.
How about bringing back the old style of cars. i.e. like the Cadillac 74 model. As for the gas consumption, anyone interested in driving cars of that calibre, should not involve themselves with the consumption.
I think Gm has already come a long way. I recently saw the new GMC Acadia and its interior is beautiful. Futuristic is fine, but comfortable is better. Keep up the good work GM.
So, whats so new it rates a story. Other than some more puzzling small type on the guages, nothing looks evolutionary, not even revolutionary. Cmon GM, lets kick it up a notch!
