According to numerous reports, the 2017 Ford GT has been confirmed for production at Ford's factory in Markham, Ontario. In celebration, take a good, long look at the beautiful machine on the show floor at the Chicago Auto Show, now painted in a new shade called Liquid Silver with titanium-tinted racing stripes.

To keep the 14-month development on the Ford GT project a secret, Ford kept the car locked in a basement studio and only gave the car's skunk works team the keys. They also worked mostly at night with little input from the outside.

The Ford GT was absolutely the start of the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, and it has proved that once again by taking the honor for Best Designed Production Vehicle in the annual EyesOn Design Awards. The Buick Avenir and Audi Q7 also received accolades.

The new Ford GT will hit the market next year in celebration of the GT40's landmark 1-2-3 finish at Le Mans 50 years ago, but will its successor mark the Blue Oval's return to endurance racing and the Circuit de la Sarthe?
