LONG LIVE CORVETTES!!!! My Favorite is still the 68 candy apple red convertible stingray with a cream color top and mag wheels with chrome sidepipes......but i'd still be happy to take this one! My dream car
I am 71 years old and I have drooled over this car since it came out. Of course.....being an average wage earner, I cant even afford the paint job on this thing. But I have a deal for you ! If you give me one, I will test drive it for you for ten years and then give you a detailed report on it. Hurry.....Im writing to Ferrari with the same offer.
This comment will anger about 60% of corvette owners/fans ... but 40% of the car's lovers will understand. I collect old mopar race cars ... 67-69 Barracudas to be exact. But about thirty years ago, I went through corvettes - six in all. A 65 roadster, three 63 split window coupes, a 69 convertable and a 71 convertible. I have no use for or interest in the 2008 Corvette. While it is as fast as the vetts of yesteryear, it looks like it was designed by a bunch of frenchmen dropping a piece of clay off the table a couple of times. The front end looks like any japanese 4 door you want to pick, the sides look like a first year designer had a bright idea of "hey, let's put a big air scoop here...", and the back, well, frankly, it looks like the philosophical concept was to try and capture what kicking a clay statue in the ass would look like. Before you all begin sending me hate mail, go look at a 69 coupe. Compare all the angles and views of that car to the '08 Corvette. Then tell me that the GM design shop has any clue about sexy auto design. American cars used to have an "American" look. Now because there are no more "American car companies" left, all the vehicles look like Dr. Frankenstein renditions of what the EU things is "stunning." One only has to look at the surprising success of Ford's retro "American" syled Mustang to understand that "us ..mericans" don't want to be "european" . It's just too bad GM is so obsessed with Ferrari. No, you can have your '08 vette with its longer, lower, wider, kicked in the ass designed by a grade schooler playing with some play dough. I would rather take $50k and buy a completely restored 69 427 4 speed T-Top and sit in my garage and play with the hide away head lights all night.jim coster,
What happened to attention to detail!!!! Everything is extra with these vehicles! I love vettes and have to say that this design is very slapped together with detail! When I look at anything that costs more than I make, The first thing I ask is what makes it stand out? I'm still looking....................Impress me to write that LARGE check. The viper stands out, porsche, ferrari, etc...... Stand on your own and do something that will stand the test of time!!!!!!!! That's what I want to pay for!!!!!!!
The front end looks pretty "viper-ish" to me.all these new 'vettes all look pretty much the same anymore.I'm more into older classic hot-rods and muscle cars, like cuda's,mach 1's,and "smokey trans am's.Those cars had lots of character and were build in a time when builders actually cared about what they were making. Now it seems like they're more focussed on how much money they can get for it instead of how great looking and unique it is.Whatever happened to good old fashoned american muscle?
I clicked on this story because I read "improved interior appointments for 2008." OK great, lets see what GM has come up with for their iconic sport car’s interior. I want to love it. I get no pleasure from bashing GM or the American auto industry in general. The interior of the 2008 Corvette is good, maybe even really good for the everyday sort of car. I know that many point to the fact that the Corvette is a good value based on its performance, but it just doesn't look world class to me on the inside. If the Corvette is GM's symbol of what it can do and raise the image of it entire line of vehicles, then is shows the world that basic, plastic looking interiors are really its best effort. B-
My 1969 t-top, 350 HP 350 CI 4-speed Vette was by far my favorite car. I enjoyed just looking at it while I was at work, such a beautiful car. The new Vettes don't have it, sorry, they just don't look right, never have. They work well, I've driven a couple, but personality and style need to be infused into the new ones. We need a "cool" Vette again!
I have always love Corvettes. But a corvette should look MEAN >( The corvetts today look cool and stylish and pretty. But they stopped looking MEAN after 1970. Chevy give us back our MEAN street machines.
The corvette is by far the best sports car on the road for the dollar, expecially the Z06, it will wax most any competition weather it be 1/4 mile or handeling. Dont complain about needing other interior colors, it looks great as it is. You euro pansies need to get a life.
The new Zo6 is still the best bang for the buck, in world class power, handling, looks, and economy. But when i drove my '67 427 coupe, black w/red stinger down the road, the new vette guys would either pull over or put their windows down to listen and look at my vette go by. Is that a coincidence or what? When i drove my Hugger Orange 69 427 coupe to Carlisle, and passed the newer vettes, they all smiled and appreciated the look. Is that teling you something?
This car is simply bad-ass. More specifically, the Z06..I gotta to find a way to get one of these absolutley awesome rides. Now the hard part is trying to decide between which color, black or silver, hmmm....

They quit making Corvette's after 1967. Nothing after that looks like a vette to me.

My favorite is still the 77 "T" Top, with a special blue -grey paint job just introduced in 77. I'm an OLd Man now, but GOD I still love corvetts !!!!

Mark is right, the 'Vette has lost its "mean"-------------this one looks more like a light lunch for a Shelby GT500KR (the real King of the Road).
