It's not quite 310 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe), but even at 245 MPGe, the Edison2 eVLC is certainly one of the most efficient vehicles to have ever completed EPA-accredited tests.

Back in September of 2010, the team from Lynchburg, VA, Edison2, captured the X-Prize crown in the Mainstream Class with its single-cylinder, gasohol burnin' Very Light Car (VLC). After the win, Edison2 hinted that a version of VLC with "other power sources" could effectively "cure range anxiety." Lo and behold, Edison2's eVLC is here, but is it the cure for anxiety?

On the heels of Audi unveiling its Urban Concept, Opel showing off its RAK e concept and Volkswagen pulling the sheets off its Nils concept at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, Edison2 has revealed an electric version of the X-Prize-winning Very Light Car.
