OK So I work for a Cadillac dealership in sales. My feelings towards changing up the SRX/crossover niche is a GRAND idea! We have a hard time selling them cause people think they resemble a station wagon... I have to use the line "this is the 'drivers' crossover cause it is the most FUN to drive" in hopes that they can get over the fact it's a station wagon. So I applaud Caddy for changing this... we need a good gas-mileaged SUV.
Here are my two MAJOR holy-$%its!!!
1 >>> Are you really going to call it the "Provoq"??? Could you think of any worse of a name??? It doesn't roll off the tongue like Escalade. It sounds like someone throwing up. And within 5 mins of us getting the news of this "concept" several people were mocking the name, saying things like "it will 'Provoq' you to do this... or 'Provoq' you to do that"... bad idea. It 'Provoqed' me to think it is VERY BAD NAME. Cadillac... please reconsider the name.
2 >>> As I sit here on our showroom floor I also look over at our sister-store... Saturn... I start to chuckle when I see a Saturn 'Vue' staring back at me... WITH THE SAME LINES AS YOUR 'PROVOQ'!!! Are you kidding me??? You're going to make your highend company's small SUV/crossover based on your lowend company's SUV/crossover??? I'm just baffled! As I said before... there is a market for this car for sure! I love it as a salesperson! BUT Cadillac... if you are going to base this new vehicle on that chassis PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a BETTER job at masking what it really is! At the VERY least change the location of the front quarter vents. They are in the same EXACT place as the 'Vue'!!! Keep our great line consistent and move the vents up where the CTS/STS/Escalade vents are!!! It's more than obvious to even the untrained eye!
