How come Mercedes is the only manufacturer that can make a true 2-door hardtop?

I would LOVE this CTS Coupe if the rear quarter windows rolled down and there wasn't a hard B-pillar. They would even have a leg-up on Mercedes with the CTS offering a manual transmission...
