An Australian report claims that the Ford GT is getting carbon fiber wheels from Carbon Revolution, the same supplier as the Shelby Mustang GT350R. Ford says that there's no final decision whether to offer them... yet.

For its first year, there might be just 100 examples of the new Ford GT for the US and another 100 for international markets.

The specs in Forza Motorsport 6 are suggesting that the Ford GT makes 630 horsepower and 539 pound-feet of torque. Those might not be final numbers, of course.

Ford has given Canadian firm Multimatic the nod to build the carbon fiber body on the new Ford GT, "because they have specialized equipment for carbon fiber production and expertise in carbon fiber assembly." Multimatic Motorsports had worked on the Mustang FR500C race car and the current Boss 302R.

According to numerous reports, the 2017 Ford GT has been confirmed for production at Ford's factory in Markham, Ontario. In celebration, take a good, long look at the beautiful machine on the show floor at the Chicago Auto Show, now painted in a new shade called Liquid Silver with titanium-tinted racing stripes.
