    Ford has announced that it will be lowering the fuel economy ratings on a number of its 2013 and 2014 model year vehicles after an error was discovered in the company's internal testing data. The EPA has been notified.

    Ford may be clearly stating that it is not discussing any particular models with the Environmental Protection Agency as an official investigation continues, but that isn't stopping the people from filing a federal class action lawsuit against the automaker over mileage claims for the C-Max and Fusion Hybrid vehicles.

    The Environmental Protection Agency has said it "will look at the report and data" from Consumer Reports indicating that the 2013 Ford C-Max and Fusion hybrids don't come close to achieving their fuel economy estimates of 47 miles per gallon. In CR testing, the C-Max Hybrid averaged 37 mpg; the Fusion Hybrid averaged 39.
