"Intellitouch" is the name Toyota will apparently use to refer to a new electronic control scheme it is developing. That's according to Car and Driver, which has spotted the name in a new Toyota trademark application. According to the submission, the name refers to "electronic touch sensitive controllers, sold as an integral part of motor vehicles."

A slew of recent reports, most with a headline that reads something like this: "Toyota to stop importing Camry models from Japan," may have led some Toyota aficionados to believe that most Toyota Camry Hybrids will be manufactured right here in the U.S. starting in 2012. It seems those aficionados would be mostly correct.

The Toyota hybrid effort has long been dominated by the amazingly efficient Prius. As a dedicated hybrid, the platform has basked in the warm glow of headlines and celebrity love since the second-generation debuted in 2003. The plucky Atkinson hatch has easily overshadowed other Toyota hybrid efforts, including the Camry Hybrid.
