Did your 'lead' say 'high tech'? Give me a break! This looks like the same as a 65 but with cruise control buttons on the stirring wheel. This is sharp and I like it but don't go 'high tech' on me!
I am a huge fan of Mustang design. In many ways it would be difficult for Ford to ever beat the '64 - '69 design series of coupe & ragtop. There have been "nods" to this storied past, and you could argue that the '04 - '09 genesis has evolved in deliberate attempts to recapture (and seriously update) the sense of lineage, feeling and performance. I believe they have succeeded. Rather than try to follow this trend as a rebirth of the '70 - 76 (ugh) fiasco, it's time for Mustang to take on an entirely different challenge. The world is changing, and so is the Mustang customer. Here are my suggestions for the design team(s): First of all, make it fun. It's not a Mustang if it becomes heavy, dark, sedan-y and serious. Make it a drive-to-the-beach or drive-around-town to show-off car.. bring back more "bling" in terms of chrome and scoops on standard models (something that got skimped on in '04 - '09). Power package: use your technology to give us a SERIOUSLY fuel efficient version, and make this a cornerstone of the rebirth. You can always offer the "Boss" version as a bolt-on for an extra $8 - 10 K.. that will satisfy the crowd who must burn rubber (not many of us will actually risk chipping the paint, you know). By 2011, figure out how to make the Hybrid happen!
Damn the console is a f*cking volvo v70/s80 rippoff. Just look at the main 4 wheels on the radio, the AC stack and the ventilation blowout "holes". Ford destorys everything that's good with volvo (and other carcompanies they own aswell!)
