Who designed the back end of this car ? I can see that Ford outsourced the back end of this car to the drop-outs of the NISSON Design school !! What in the hell happened ? I guess my excitement for the 2010 Mustang will be relegated to buying a 2009 model.
wow - what a mess. I've always felt that if they could do nothing else, Ford could at least do style, but now I've been proven wrong. The basic elements that made the Mustang an icon are the long hood and the short rear. Now they've pushed in the front end and pulled out the rear end.
I must say, it's quite hideous, but I really don't care since I gave up on American car manufacturers over a decade ago. After being screwed time after time by horrid quality, I finally smartened up. I couldn't afford the price of being "patriotic." GM, Ford & Chrysler have lost their way.
I'd have to agree with you guys! I was very glad to read of the interior improvements (and thought the sequential turn signals were neat) along with the addition of ESC across the board. But it seems the "live axle" thing is still there. And now this rather odd restyling. I too was "smitten" with the '05 - '09 retro look cars. I realize at some point Ford had to 'move forward' to the next phase of the Mustang's look. An evolution away from the retro toward a future standard...and perhaps this is the first step in that direction, but I must say it's a rather disappointing step.
It's possible that in person this Stang doesn't look as bad as the pics. And occasionally some colors really make a car look worse (though I'd be surprised if the red was a bad color choice on a Stang). So I'll hold out some hope for now...but...
