Subaru Legacy + Honda FCX I'm very disappointed. I had hoped that VW was going to do the right thing and offer a more attractive take on the theme of the CLS, but instead they gave us an even more amorphous blob.
It is decent looking, but what is it that VW just doesn't understand about marketing? NO BODY wants or needs Pheatan type VW sedan. The first one bombed horrifically- so what do you do- try it again!! Hey VW- Check your corporate website and see if you own a group called AUDI. Make sure your spell it right- A U D I. They make nice quality luxury sedans, maybe you should check them out. Seriously, how can VW beat Toyota when VW is busy trying to beat Audi - it's sister division?
This is a very nice Passat - but it is definitely NOT a Phateon. The Phaeton is an exquisite automobile. The only criticism that can reasonably be leveled at it is that it is slighltly thirstier and heavier than comparable luxury vehicles , and that is only on the current flavor of the month program of everybody having to _finally_ pick up the sustainability and ecology issue that we all should have been dealing with over 30 years ago. The north american consumer is clearly an idiot for not accepting the Phaeton only because of the VW badge. If anything, it is superior to the competition from MB & BMW in comfort, fit & finish, drivability and value for the money. Audis are great cars too, but the A8/A8L is still a different car from the Phaeton and VW of North America was incredibly short sighted and foolish in stopping importation. Having done so will not improve the impression of the brand in the US or Canada or increase their market share.

So this is a Passat sedan, with less rear headroom. And this is a good thing how?
