Keep it in Korea, I say! Like everything they put out, they have to bite off of other manufacturers. They can't be original and creative, and when they do, they put out something ugly and non-attractive. They put out these copy-cat wanna be cars that attempt to resemble higher end, classier manufacturer's models. Now they're revealing a "new" logo?! Funny how it strangely resembles a Bentley logo...no wonder they're just gonna keep a Huyndai logo on it when it comes over here to the states! Like I said...biters!
Those are some pretty Korean models in the pic...too bad they're not standing next to a car that truly compliments their beauty! Keep it overseas! Ain't nothin but a poor man's lexus!!!
I certainly liked the looks of the concept quite a bit more (http://www.hyundaiconceptgenesis.com/) Let's hope they stay fairly true to the genesis coupe concept.
The real "H" isn't huyndai: This is the Korean market version. All the highend Hyundais in Korea have their own logos (such as the EQUUS. If one didn't know anything about Hyundai and saw an EQUUS, they would have thought it was a separate company because no where on the car do you see a Hyundai logo. On the Sonatas they sell in Korea, there's a hyundai logo in front of the car but no words saying, "Hyundai" in the back. When the car was exported to the States, they add, "Hyundai" to the back and customize it for the American market.
yea Hyundai does tend to take a lot of style from they'recompetitors, but they've increasingly proven themselves more adept atdoing it right. This one does look pretty good, and i'd say its moreof a poor man's Acura RL than a Lexus. I also prefer the concept muchmore, but this one really isnt too bad and would likely snag alot ofeyes. And if it had all the accoutrements of an Acura/Lexus they'reaiming for, performs almost as well, and keeps that Hyundai warranty,i'd say you've got a winner! (Hey, even the poor man needs somethinghe can be proud of stepping into).
FIRST OF ALL, to all you haters, funny you guys dont complain about japanese manufactuers copying others or other car companies copying off each other?? LEXUS copied sheetmetal for sheetmetal of S-class benz when they started their LS, and actually there are many more like dat. honda civic taillights copied from A4, new accord copied A6, almost exactly the same design theme and I actually have mistaken accord for the A6, the 5th gen accord copied the 3rd gen HYUNDAI SONATA, LOOK at the new TOYOTA MATRIX, do you see the resemblance of HYUNDAI ELANTRA fenders and front end??? the new AUDI a1 looks like HYUNDAI HCD-8 front end, I can go on and on and on... For those of you that are ignorant, everything in human society comes from copying and improvement and betterment of other existing things, that is called INNOVATION, Dont just blast Hyundai for having similar looks to other cars, if you are going to do so, then be fair and blast other manufacturers as well, or just dont be hypocritical And besides, who else has a 4.6l V8 that produce 375 HP? dodges HEMIs and LEXUS dont even offer that kind of power with those displacements, so funny that you haters cant acknowledge that HYUNDAI will eventually become and surpass Toyota. Praise HYUNDAI
And now about the car, this car does LOOK AMAZING, it is quite different from the concept however it is nicely executed. Looks classy and luxurious. If I had the money I would buy this over any lexus GS, M45 or RL for that matter. Being priced competitvely against TL, G37, IS, I would definately buy this instead. Looks stunning to me

This is a real disappointment for me to look at Hyundai as a supporter. Even the badge logo is a copy of Bentley. Genesis, what has started as a real fine project has become the biggest copy project for Hyundai. This will definitely set them back another 10-20 years to rid themselves of a image as just another copy company.
There is nothing original about the design. It is a mix and match of fine points of other successful cars but when put together, there is nothing that makes it unique. In fact it looks like cheap. People will not pay $40k to be seen in a copy design.
They should have kept to the original concept of Genesis design with few modification. That would have atleast made it unique and distinct. Again this shows the lack of confidence in the Hyundai management to take the least risk possible and not venture into unknown territories. However, this modesty will be their biggest shortcomming.
peter lee - Some are Hyundai haters but I am not. I support Hyundai motors. However, this model as released today looks cheap. Shall I say, even looks like a Chinese brand. To win over hearts and mind of US consumer, the product cannot be equal to Lexus, it has to be 2,3 times better. I am afraid that atleast in design, it does not match Lexus today. It is very difficult to bring over customers who are already loyal customers to other brands.
Brian - I certainly hope that the badge will not be released here in the US. The press will have a field day.
There are lot's of people who want to buy Hyundai vehicles but shy away because of the image. Hyundai made a mistake of appointing dealerships in the US in the poorer neighborhoods to sell on "affordability" merits. Many Hyundai owners are driving cars without insurance and in many cases Hyundais found on the road are poorly maintained with many bodily damages. This has created tremendous image problem as there are thousands and thousands of damaged Hyundais all over America.
For Genesis to be successful, they will have to create a seperate brand and relocate dealerships to middle or upper middle class neighborhoods. They will have to de-link itself of the old Hyundai image.

fc, that badge will not be the same when it releases here. I'm pretty sure that badge is only for KDM and not for American release.
