wow, how totally unexciting and worse yet, how detrimental to Ford! They NEED a hit. The F series trucks ARE there brand. This thing should be ruggedly beautiful inside and out and blow away the competition with innovation, utility, and value! Ford, you can't afford to mess up here, and judging from these pics, it seems I might be bidding adeiu to the company that made so many of my beloved cars.
The tight front end fits (less gaps) should help MPG and noise, but it would be great if the won-fiddy could shed some pounds in the update. And a engine change from the 5.4 (died on the floor?) couldn't hurt, either. +1 on thinking this truck is a winner.
Not for me. Interior too filled with knobs and buttons; Keep It Simple, Stupid! This should be a Truck, not a hi-tech sports car. After 3 Ford vans, 3 F-150s, I will strongly consider Toyota next time, though I don't like their front grille, either. My '03 F-150 has been great; no problems, hauls everything, rides comfortably, plan on keeping it 'til it quits.
rick, your turd tundra is no more reliable than 1960's english cars. don't throw stones when you're driving a glass truck. just buy an f-150 and do some real work, or buy a ridgeline to impress your friends by hauling a little mulch.
I think the tundra is a great truck. One that lets you get to know your dealer. Face it, right now the tundra is the only full size truck out there with so many problems, one couldn't even expect the truck to go one week without issues.
As far as the new Ford goes. Not a bad looking truck, but nothing exciting. The interior is HORRIBLE. Too many buttons. I have no doubt the press will rip the interior apart.
How can you say that the Tundra is the *only* truck without problems? There have been several reported problems with the new models, much more than the last time F-150 was redesigned (2004). Ford builds a high-quality truck, and even with the old design, it has higher payload and towing capaicty. Tundra is playing catchup. Each new Toyota truck is supposed to be "the one" to break through, but despite being MT truck of the year (remember, back in the late '90s/early 2000s, the first Tundra was also Truck of the year and it didnt come close to selling as well as F-150, Silverado, or Ram). Toyota is NOT the end-all, be-all of the automotive world.
Ya know, I'm a tried and true Blue Oval fan..nuttin but Ford Motor co. for me. My current inventory includes starting with my classic 74 Gran Torino sport; 1984 Mustang GT; 97 Explorer Sport; 97 Explorer XLT 4dr; and a 99 F-150 Flareside w/46,000 actual miles and no winter driving. But I think Ford is going a bit overboard with sticking the 3-bar theme on everything short of the Mustang! I think it's total overkill on the theme! I'm a die hard (I bleed blue) but I am even getting bored with the 3-bar theme! I'm so fed up with it that I am considering a new C-class Mercedes for a compact passenger car. Who wants their Taurus to look like a Focus that looks like a Fusion which looks like a Taurus-X. Get the picture Ford? Each model deserves it's own grille!
Looks just like the rest of the F-150's. Oversized, over plasticized, and unreliable. I made the sorry mistake of buying an F-150 last year, and I'm glad I am rid of it. One thing after another broke, and I said "forget it." My 01 Ram has been through more than my F-150 ever was. It's still ticking and has never broken even after 200k miles.

Ford needs to start making reliable vehicles.
