I get new F-150 every year, one I am driving now is "Kings Ranch", (fantastic truck) have always had Lariets, was going to get new 2008 "Limited" but will opt to wait till 2009, I like that dash and that 5.4 hauls 6000 pounds effortlessly but hop they can improve milegae a bit.
I sure hope this is not the finished product! They need a complete redesign, not just a cycle makeover! If they want to really make it ugly, put the 'Clear Tailights like is on the Mercury Sable! This is a problem that Ford keeps doing, example from the outside the Expedition and Explorer keep getting redesign, but you cannot tell much difference outside! Ford cannot afford not to do compete and fresh products if it is to succeed! Also putting comporate grilles in everything such as the 3 bar grille only makes them boring!
Well... A toyota? NO. A Dodge...? Front-end is not as wide looking, and no eyebrow looking fender flares. A King Ranch or Higher trim level, I think not. I drive a Lincoln Mark LT. In the Ford trucks with higher trim packages the shifter is not by the steering column, its in the center by arm rest. I DO NOT like the column shifter.
Although, the truck pictured does have leather interior, it could be(must) an upgraded XLT. The center console probably folds up to make a third front seat, like pictured. King Ranchers, Lariats and Mark LT's don't.
Not sure what to think of the new F-150. It looks like FORD is trying to go for the Nissan Titan look which SUCKS! I prefer the 2007 model atleast it looks like a FORD truck. I am a GM man 100% and would NEVER trade my EXT in for any FORD on the lot. I would rather have an 07' Silverado than i would an 09' F-150 ANY day! Ford needs to stop making the hideous Edge, Fusion, Taurus & Escape. Thankfully they beat me to the execution of the Ranger (ugly, outdated, weak and poorly built). FORD... take design clues from GM or even Dodge.
When I see comments like "Looks like a Toyota" or "Super Duty looks like a Dodge Ram" it really shows me there are still a lot of uneducated consumers out there still. The fact is, Ford draws its inspiration from the commerical Mack trucks we know from the 80's. The truck that Ford designed. The theme was carried over to it's Super Duty line and you will notice the Dodge Ram took these same cues from Mack (Ford). It is no secret that Ford is dominating the truck wars and you will see more and more competitors trying to mimick Ford, not the other way around. Let's give credit where credit is due. If you still think GM, Chrysler or Toyota make a better truck, check out www.insidesuperduty.com and see for yourself.
I have been driving new F-150's for the last 11 years and I liked them until I got this 06. I'm not satisfied with the performance, fuel mileage, and braking on my King Ranch. 10-12mpg and brake rotors that warp everytime you have to stop suddenly from interstate speeds isn't cutting it. I have had it in the dealership on different occasions and they want to tell me it is normal. If that is the case....if the 09 isn't improved, I will replace it with a different brand .

Kinda looks like a Toyota to me. Fords super dutys look like Dodges. Can they not come up with a fresh look?
