Trying to figure out if the speed limit in most states is 65 mph, why do they make
cars that go 200 mph? If they put the limit on 75mph, we would have less speeding
tickets, less accidents and of course, the state would make less money.

This goes to to prove chevy is #1 forever. If you can't handle it stay away from it. Not for the family to pile into.

Assume , the nearest thing to it in the world is three times the price tag. If you have to ask why , then you will never understand why. This is the flagship of GM. There is only going to be 2,000 per year produced. But the coverage alone on this car will do more for GM than any add you come up with. Oh yes and did I hear it gets 24 per gallon on the highway. The technolgy going in this car today will be in your family car in years to come . Not as much power , but there is a reason behind the madness. The carbon figer body will change how cars are made over the next decade. GM had fuel injection on Corvettes in the 50's before any other American car there has been many things over the years that you seen on the Corvettes before it ever came to other GM products. I sure this car will only be offered for a few years , but thanks GM for showing us that we can still beat the world.

The car is decent looking, but still looks too similar to every other vette, which I saw 10-15 40 year old women driving earlier today.

As for the 600 hp mark, you can get an 08' Viper GTS that has that much power and is naturally aspirated. On top of that, it is more exclusive (they make more vettes a year than all vipers ever) and costs less!

...as you can tell I have a viper in my garage, as I believe it is a much better car.

Why in Gods name in this day and age would Chevy want to put a car that goes 200 mph on our higways. It is a sad day in marketing for America when an automaker has to top them all. I have always said that there is nothing like a corvette....well I still say that, but not to travel at speeds like this. Its just not neccessary. I dred the day I am doing 65-70 on I-75 with my wife and 2 daughters and I see red coming at me from behind doing 180- mph...I'm not sure anyone would even have a chance to get out of the way?...why would the government allow this?....P.S....I love everything else about this car and wish I could have one, but OMG!!

First of all, Mike... The Viper requires 2 more cylinders to make as much power as the Vette so consider the engines equal as far as technology and per cubic inch naturally asperated HP/TQ. Second Mike is that the Pwr/wght ratio of the current Z06 Vette is greater than the Vipers so therfore the new Vette will surely be alot quicker than your Viper, and with Corvette suspension technology this car will surely beat yor Viper any day. Two last things Mike.... There is a reason the Vette beats everything at 24 Hr Lemans, and second... there is a reason Dodge can not sell as many Vipers as Chevy sells Vettes..... The Vette is a better car!!!
Now John.... The Corvette has been capable of 200+ MPH for nearly a decade, now why is it you now decide to try and atack that feat???? GM didnt build this car to go beond 200 MPH.... They built it to prove that any American.... Make that anyone.... that had any type of a decent salory could afford a sports car. The only difference now is that GM is now proving that same person can afford an exotic. As far as why would the govenment allow this.... ARE YOU CRAZY!!!!! Its called free enterprising! It what makes America.... America! If the people of America allowed the government to decide to limit the power or speeds that cars could have in America then you would see an end to all major leaps and bounds in technology in your everyday car. Its because of high performance vehicles that safety is what it is today, not because of mom and dad wanted a safer car.
In a nutshell.... GM did not build this car to be better than anyone. They built it to allow the average consumer a chance to own something elite. Something that foriegn countries say the average consumer can't have.... PERIOD!

Viper is cool car but very small,tirht and uncomfortable.I am 6'4"210 and have always had a vet.I have looked at viper's but always come back to a vet.I have an 07 z06 and now bought a ZR1 I can't wait to get my hand's on it.I will take on any Viper and spank him!!Meet me at atco raceway in nj bring your pink slip if youre so sure a viper is faster.
