We bought 2 2007 Kia's in June, one is the Spectra EX and the other the Rio5. We did it purely for economic reasons, to save gas, get rid of a mini-van past its prime, and we needed 2 vehicles.
We're VERY HAPPY with the Spectra EX. It drives great, gets 35mph highway, maybe slightly better when we drive 'normal'. Its far more comfortable than I thought it would be. (I was having nightmares about our old Mitsubishi) Auto windows, auto locks, nice CD stereo system, IPOD jack to plug in your own tunes. Plenty roomy, seats fold down but that doesn't make the backseat uncomfortable. There is only one drawback we've noticed. With our van we had dual climate controls for front and back. With the EX (as with any smaller car we've found) its either 'too warm' or 'not warm enough' since it only has the one climate control up front. (its ok, we don't have kids nobody is back there but groceries and they don't much care) The Rio5 is FANTASTIC little car, great gas mileage, comfortable to drive yet really FUN to drive too. We did get the burnt orange color so it gets noticed. Seats also fold down without sacrificing comfort in the back.....same climate problems but again, no kids to complain so it doesn't bother us.
I'm really proud of Kia. Years ago I would never have bought one......now we have 2! If only Detroit would put out something comparable within our price point...sigh, sadly that won't happen. We tried the American cars, they just don't hold up for the price. Sorry. Wake up Detroit.
