Mini Spy Shots

Mini is a brand of small cars that began with the Mark I designed by Sir Alec Issigonis in 1959. Originally sold under the Austin and Morris brand names, Mini became the small car's actual name in 1964. Made famous by one of cinema's best car chases in the film "The Italian Job," the car's design remained relatively unchanged except for different front ends until the all-new Mini Cooper was launched by BMW in 2001.

    1297456260

Spy lenses in Germany recently caught sight of the upcoming 2012 Mini Coupe, and now those same crafty photogs just trained their cameras on a quasi-camouflaged Mini Speedster. Like its fixed-top sibling, we can clearly see a low-slung shape and a pop-up rear spoiler for some added sporty flair. We're not sure what all that yellow swirliness is supposed ...

The Mini Coupe is set to go on sale this Fall and that means testing of the hatchless Cooper has begun in earnest. The next-generation Mini Cooper isn't slated to arrive until 2012, but judging by this latest set of spy shots, it looks like parent company BMW is working on a very, very minor facelift for the 2011 model year Cooper and Clubman hatches. Spy Shots: Mini working on diesel "S" versions of Cooper, Clubman?
    1259181720

Spy shooters posted outside Mini's testing facility in Germany snagged a duo of prototypes heading out for testing, but something seemed amiss. Both models -- a standard Cooper and a mildly camo'd Clubman -- sported the tell-tale exterior elements found on the S versions, specifically a central-mounted dual exhaust on the Cooper and the twin-tips and ...
