Mini Spy Shots
Mini is a brand of small cars that began with the Mark I designed by Sir Alec Issigonis in 1959. Originally sold under the Austin and Morris brand names, Mini became the small car's actual name in 1964. Made famous by one of cinema's best car chases in the film "The Italian Job," the car's design remained relatively unchanged except for different front ends until the all-new Mini Cooper was launched by BMW in 2001.

The engineers at Mini are hard at work on the upcoming Roadster, including the John Cooper Works edition you see here in development phase. A prototype of the performance droptop has been lapping the Nürburgring at a furious pace, and our stealthy spy photographers managed to set their lenses on the machine. The photos show all of the hardware ...
We're inching ever closer to seeing the Mini Coupe in showrooms. The clipped Cooper is set to land on dealer lots as soon as this Autumn, and it looks like the company's engineers are hard at work ironing out the very last wrinkles in the platform. Our spy photographer commandos managed to click off a few photos of the most recent tester out and about ...
Spy lenses in Germany recently caught sight of the upcoming 2012 Mini Coupe, and now those same crafty photogs just trained their cameras on a quasi-camouflaged Mini Speedster. Like its fixed-top sibling, we can clearly see a low-slung shape and a pop-up rear spoiler for some added sporty flair. We're not sure what all that yellow swirliness is supposed ...
The Mini Coupe is set to go on sale this Fall and that means testing of the hatchless Cooper has begun in earnest. Caught by our spies running around outside BMW headquarters in Germany, the 2012 Mini Coupe uses the Bavarians' standard psychedelic camo, but it wasn't able to hide a new retractable spoiler nestled within the trunk – something that ...
As is traditionally the case for BMW's revived Mini range, the new Countryman crossover will be offered with an optional Aero Kit that makes the 'ute look much more aggressive and might even do a wee bit for aerodynamic performance. Since the Countryman is such a large departure from the previous Cooper and Clubman, though, nobody was really sure what ...
The next-generation Mini Cooper isn't slated to arrive until 2012, but judging by this latest set of spy shots, it looks like parent company BMW is working on a very, very minor facelift for the 2011 model year Cooper and Clubman hatches. The slight tweaks include things like a new front bumper with revised air intakes (similar to those on the Countryman ...
With word that Saab wants to do battle with Mini in the quirky compact segment, the web has exploded with renderings of what the tiny Swedish machine could look like. CAR is the latest publication to try its hand at imagining the face of a new-world 9-2, and has been so kind as to share its take with the rest of the world. Supposedly, Spyker CEO Victor ...
Spy shooters posted outside Mini's testing facility in Germany snagged a duo of prototypes heading out for testing, but something seemed amiss. Both models -- a standard Cooper and a mildly camo'd Clubman -- sported the tell-tale exterior elements found on the S versions, specifically a central-mounted dual exhaust on the Cooper and the twin-tips and ...
