Mini Spy Shots
Mini is a brand of small cars that began with the Mark I designed by Sir Alec Issigonis in 1959. Originally sold under the Austin and Morris brand names, Mini became the small car's actual name in 1964. Made famous by one of cinema's best car chases in the film "The Italian Job," the car's design remained relatively unchanged except for different front ends until the all-new Mini Cooper was launched by BMW in 2001.

As has been the case since the launch of the new Mini in 2001, the overall exterior shape underneath camouflage screams Mini, but insiders are still calling the coming F56 model "the most aggressively different new Mini ...

The two-door Mini Cooper is getting two additional portals in its next generation. It looks like BMW is set to put the Mini back in minivan, with an enlarged version of its Countryman crossover. Our spy photographers snagged these shots of the jumbo-sized Mini mule testing in Europe and wearing conventional Countryman bodywork. But if you look closely, you can see that the front wheels have moved forward a bit, suggesting the Mini ...

Spy Shots: 2014 Mini Cooper gets mellow in yellow 1337191320
Given the spate of new models Mini has introduced in the past few years, from the Clubman to the Countryman to the Coupe to the Roadster, it sometimes seems like BMW has forgotten about the original model, the plain old Mini Cooper hardtop. It was last redesigned for the 2007 model year, which seems like a long time ago because, well, it is. Which is why ...

Spy Shots: Mini preparing JCW GP version of Cooper Coupe too? 1334788080
Want a hot little hatchback? You could do a lot worse than a Mini. But as with many cars, your budget will determine how much speed you get: Cooper, Cooper S, JCW or – with the first-gen model, anyway – the top-of-the-line John Cooper Works GP. Introduced just before Mini launched the second-generation model line, the GP edition packed more ...

Spy Shots: 3rd-gen Mini Cooper spy shots suggest retro-free interior 1326815880
The relentlessly unconventional Mini Cooper looks to be going a lot less unconventional for its third generation, at least on the inside. A glimpse of what appears to be Mini's future was snapped by KGP Photography in the Arctic Circle, and outside, there looks to be little change except for slightly larger dimensions. Inside, though, the ...

Spy Shots: Mini Countryman JCW rolls at the 'Ring 1310052480
Mini has established a pretty successful formula for its lineup. The party gets started with a base model, followed by a slightly more athletic S variant. But at the very top of the heap, the John Cooper Works trim delivers gut-punching performance with a serious suspension, easy-breathing exhaust and beefy brakes. Judging from a handful of spy photos ...

Spy Shots: Mini Speedster on the prowl 1297456260
Spy lenses in Germany recently caught sight of the upcoming 2012 Mini Coupe, and now those same crafty photogs just trained their cameras on a quasi-camouflaged Mini Speedster. Like its fixed-top sibling, we can clearly see a low-slung shape and a pop-up rear spoiler for some added sporty flair. We're not sure what all that yellow swirliness is supposed ...

The Mini Coupe is set to go on sale this Fall and that means testing of the hatchless Cooper has begun in earnest.
