Geneva 2010: Lotus Evora Carbon Concept
    1267627140

It took us two trips to notice, but the Evora 414E Hybrid wasn't the only concept sharing the Lotus stand at the Geneva Motor Show. Taking its lightweight ethos to the next logical extreme, Lotus unveiled the rather unassuming Evora Carbon concept here in Switzerland, and as it's name would imply, the exotic weave is the primary change to the new ...

    1267541940

We got sneak peek of the first ever Lotus Hybrid a couple of days ago, and now we've seen the Evora 414E Hybrid in the metallic flesh. Just a slight refresher on the technology, the 414E makes 408 horsepower and a skull-popping 590 pound-feet of torque via electricity. That's right, this is not your Prius-style hybrid. Like Chevy's Volt, the Evora 414E ...

Lotus has just formally introduced a new 400-plus horsepower sportscar concept. That news in and of itself would be enough to pique our interest, but the rest of the car's spec sheet makes the Evora 414E Hybrid an astonishingly intriguing concept vehicle. As you surely surmised by now, this two-seat sportster is a hybrid, specifically an extended-range ...

Malaysian automaker Proton owns the British engineering consultancy and sports car builder. While we might have expected Proton to opt for a simpler mild hybrid system, they have ...

Frankfurt 2009: Lotus Evora Type 124 Endurance Racer
    1253032380

Few automakers are as deeply rooted in motorsport as Lotus. So it comes as no surprise that, so soon after its release, the British sportscar-maker and engineering firm has already come out with a racing version of its new Evora. Tagged with the Type 124 label, the new sportscar is converted from four seats to one, but the stripped-out, ...

Let us help you with that: Lotus develops off-the-shelf range extender engine

The Lotus ethos has always been about efficient performance. "Simplicate, and add lightness" is an oft-echoed mantra coined by founder Colin Chapman. Geneva 2009: Lotus touts efficiency of new 2010 Exige S
    1236197700

"The same technology that makes a lightweight car a high performer also makes it efficient – how many cars have performance figures of 0 - 100 km/h in 4.77 secs but produce only 199 g/km CO2?" That question was posed by Mike Kimberley, Chief Executive of Group Lotus plc, and he's got a point. As part of its ongoing quest to shave weight, Lotus has ...

Uttering the word "Europa" should spark memories of the funky and fragile Lotus of the '60s and '70s, or perhaps the British sportscar company's more recent revival. What one normally doesn't tend to think of is the Tata Nano. That may change, however, as the discount Indian auto is slated to come to The Continent wearing the Nano Europa badge, and it will ...

While strolling around one of the smaller exhibit halls at the Los Angeles Auto Show I ran into an old acquaintance I hadn't seen in about 15 years. Roger is the director of vehicle enigneering at Lotus and over his 42-year career he has ...
