Lexus will run a 30-second spot for the NX during this year's Super Bowl, while BMW announces it will be showcasing the i3 in a 60-second spot. Four other carmakers have announced plans to join the party, down from 11 carmakers who advertised during last year's event.

We've already checked out the new CUV, and to promote its European launch, along with a different nose, Lexus has teamed up with producer and musician Will.I.Am for a commercial titled Striking Angles.

Before kicking off the Detroit Auto Show, the Society of Automotive Analysts had Toyota CEO Jim Lentz come on stage to say some words about the future of the auto industry, as well as what's coming for Toyota. While this type of information would normally stay off our radar, a video of his speech likely gives us our first look – albeit low-res – at the production version of the Lexus NX compact crossover.
