The latest episode of Motor Trend's Head 2 Head presents a comparison we've been anticipating for years, the Jaguar XE against the BMW 3 Series.
Jaguar XE News
Jaguar will make the coming XE the first model it builds in China. Production is expected to start sometime next year at its factory in Changshu, a joint venture with Chery Automobile, that began building the Range Rover Evoque earlier this year and will also assemble the Land Rover Discovery Sport.
Jaguar has a healthy powertrain range lined up for its new XE, including an array of four-cylinder engines and a supercharged 3.0-liter six that will, for now, serve as the range-topping offering in the XE S. But Car and Driver claims to have it on good authority that an even more powerful eight-cylinder version is in the works, as well.
The XE may prove to be the most vital new model to Jaguar's expansion. But to date we've only really seen it in top-spec, supercharged XE S form. That ends right here and now, however, as Jaguar releases details, photos and even a brief video clip showing the entire range – including those most customers are bound to buy.
When Jaguar lifted the veil on its new XE sports sedan earlier this month, it only revealed details on one engine – that being the 3.0-liter supercharged V6 in the flagship XE S. But we already knew that the British automaker's new entry-level model will offer many other powertrain options, and now it has revealed a little more.
