Honda Spy Shots

Honda is a Japanese automaker offering a full lineup of vehicles in the U.S., including the Acura brand of luxury vehicles. Established in 1946 by Soichiro Honda, the company produced only motorcycles in its early days. Honda began operations in the US back in 1959, though didn't sell cars here until the fuel-efficient Civic arrived in 1973 at the outset of this country's first energy crisis. Well known as a leader in engineering, Honda also still produces a full line of motorcycles, as well as power equipment like lawnmowers and generators.

A couple of months ago, we brought you a solitary spy shot of a virtually undisguised prototype of the next-generation Honda CR-V undergoing testing right here in the U.S. of A. And now, in a solid indication that development is proceeding despite setbacks in Japan, another pair of test mules has popped up. What we can tell from the full batch of spy ...

    1308070860

Honda debuted its 2012 Civic at this year's New York Auto Show, bringing the full suite of models to the Big Apple. But what about a five-door hatch? It's not quite ready, and not exactly confirmed for consumption the United States. This Honda Civic five-door hatchback is wearing a hefty dose of camouflage, but black tape can't hide everything. No word ...

    1305741480

While Honda may have to delay rolling out the successor to the current CR-V crossover, a shortage of parts resulting from the crisis in Japan doesn't mean it isn't still working on the project. And while we hadn't seen any prototypes running before, we've now received our first glimpse. The test mule in this solitary spy shot is wearing a bra over the ...

Spy Shots: Is this the 2012 Honda Civic?
    1296691140

Call us crazy, but the sedans stowed tightly away on this car carrier reportedly spotted in Japan don't look like the Honda Civic we all know and love here in the United States. According to Notícias Automotivas, what we see here are 2012 Civics awaiting delivery to America. We can clearly see that these Civics are sharing space on the car carrier, ...

Spy Shots: 2012 Honda Civic sedan spied almost naked
    1286735580

It would appear that the timing for the 2012 Honda Civic's unveiling has reached the "any day now" point. Car magazine's Middle East outpost caught the latest version of the popular econo-sedan undergoing desert testing, basically devoid of camouflage. If you were waiting with bated breath for an extraordinarily new and different-looking Civic, stop ...

Widebody, mid-engine Honda CR-Z coming to SuperGT?
    1282864980

The GT Channel crew have snagged a handful of shots of a widebody Honda CR-Z being built for an unknown venue, and while it could just be an elaborate show car for this January's Tokyo Auto Salon, it's possible Honda is prepping the CR-Z for a run in Japan's SuperGT touring car series. With one of the Honda HSV-010 teams holding down second place in the ...

Spy Shots: 2012 Honda Civic struts its stuff in Europe
    1279756680

Well, look at what we have here. Back in May, our intrepid spy shooters managed to snap off a series of images showing the next-gen European Honda Civic hiding in plain sight under an amalgam of ill-fitting current-gen bodywork. The latest set of spy photos seen here prove that Honda's little compact hatchback is progressing along rather nicely. Unlike ...

Spy Shots: Clearest look yet at the 2012 Hyundai Veloster
    1278444660

Our ever-vigilant long-lens warriors have managed to snag a passel of photos of the new Honda CR-Z fighter from Hyundai. The little hatch has shed a portion of the camouflage we've seen in previous spy photos, giving us a clear look at some of the three-door's (or is that four-door's?) sheetmetal. Near as we can tell, the compact has kept the ...

Our spies have just captured these photos of a Euro Civic test mule, showing that Honda is making good progress with updating its best-selling compact in other markets. Our spies ...

Reader Spy: 2011 Honda Odyssey out and about
    1270425720

The current Honda Odyssey is widely considered to be the best of its breed, but let's face facts: it's old. Toyota has upped its game with the new Sienna; Nissan is on hiatus, preparing to spring an all-new Quest; and Chrysler continues to do its thing with the Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan. Oh, there's also the Volkswagen Routan, but no ...

Spy Shots: Honda Odyssey's next act spied
    1269614280

The first on-the-road spy shots have turned up of what we're quite sure is the next generation Honda Odyssey. True to Honda 'concept car' form, the disguised prototype appears very close to the concept version that Honda revealed last month at the Chicago Auto Show. The basic shape echoes the concept and the vinyl cladding around the rear-most side ...

    1243711680

A forum user named "Puttz" at the Temple of VTEC took a picture of a manufacturer-plated CR-V in Dublin, Ohio near Honda's Marysville plant. In addition to a set of wheels that Puttz said were reminiscent of those on an RDX sketch, the grille is bigger and wearing a lot more chrome work. On the left is the spy shot, on the right is the 2009 CR-V. As another ...

Spy shots: New Accord based CUV could arrive by the end of the year
    1232987160

Currently, all of Honda's crossovers are of a more traditional upright style like the Element (if you can call that traditional) and Pilot. What Honda hasn't offered in the U.S. in more than a decade is a wagon body style. That looks like it might change by the end of 2009. Apparently, the gang in East Liberty, Ohio is cooking up a challenger for the Toyota ...

More 2009 Honda Element pics surface

Today we get to see the updates that Honda has made for its next Element more clearly. The most noticeable action is up front as the boxy 'ute gets Honda's new corporate-look grille. Classier head lights flank the five-sided opening and circular fog lamps slot nicely below them. It's a more mature look, which is fitting since the Element has proven ...
