Honda First Drives
Honda is a Japanese automaker offering a full lineup of vehicles in the US, including the Acura brand of luxury vehicles. Established in 1946 by Soichiro Honda, the company produced only motorcycles in its early days. Honda began operations in the US back in 1959, though didn't sell cars here until the fuel-efficient Civic arrived in 1973 at the outset of this country's first energy crisis. Well known as a leader in engineering, Honda also still produces a full line of motorcycles, as well as power equipment like lawnmowers and generators.

Honda Builds The Crossover Of Bikes Here in the land of Harleys and highways that stretch to infinity, Americans don't care much for sensible motorcycles. Unlike the majority of global bike buyers, North Americans tend to choose escape over utility, performance over practicality – that's simply how it's been done in the land of the free, at least ...

First Drive: 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid 1349279820
The Accord Gets Friendly With A Volt-esque Powertrain After 30 years, Honda is trying to teach the old Accord new tricks, and they're of the plug-in variety. We've been teased by various prototypes at auto shows and in spy shots, but Honda will finally start selling the 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid in January 2013. Part of the overhauled ...

First Drive: 2013 Honda Accord Sport [w/video] 1347292620
Restoring Our Faith In The Brand That Soichiro Built It's been a rough couple of years for Honda fans. Those of us who filed willingly behind the big H banner in days gone by have found ourselves making excuses for the death of the S2000, the inadequate mileage and compromised driving characteristics of the Insight hybrid, and the unworthy successor to ...

First Drive: 2013 Honda Fit EV [w/video] 1340985420
Reminding Us That EVs Are Becoming Less Of A Compromise The 2013 Honda Fit EV, the Japanese automaker's highly anticipated answer to the Nissan Leaf, is quick, agile and actually quite fun to drive. Its cabin is roomy, outward visibility good and its styling is anything but odd. The platform is impressively safe, it has decent range and Honda says it is ...

First Drive: 2012 Honda CR-V 1321549020
How To Not Screw Up A Good Thing We Lavrincs are unabashed Honda CR-V fans. So much so that both my wife and father have one parked in their respective garages. When it comes to practicality, ideal ride height, fuel economy and ingress and egress, the CR-V is hard to beat. All of which helps to explain why it's placed either first or second in the ...

First Drive: 2012 Honda Civic Sedan and Coupe 1303307940
Compact King Stays The Course Regardless of her stance on baked goods, Marie Antoinette didn't quite grasp the severity of country's condition until the French Revolution was in full swing and her husband was conspicuously absent of his head. Just as General Armstrong Custer dismissed the might of the Northern Cheyenne and Captain Edward John Smith ...

First Drive: 2011 Honda Odyssey 1284047820
Honda doesn't redefine the minivan, they strive to perfect it Honda did something silly during the launch of its all-new 2011 Odyssey minivan. The automaker built a large autocross-type "track" in the parking lot of San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium and invited journalists to take its latest eight-passenger family hauler for hot laps. It was an interesting ...

First Drive: 2011 Honda CR-Z 1276876500
Let's get this out of the way right now: the 2011 Honda CR-Z is not a CRX redux. To compare the two – no matter how much Honda may want to – is to misunderstand the former and besmirch the latter. No, the hybrid CR-Z is an entirely different beast. Despite its three-door shape and two-seat configuration, it has about as much in common with ...

First Drive: 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour goes down the road nicely... but is that enough? 1257267360
We hadn't been parked but a minute or two when it happened. After about a half an hour wringing out our test subject on what few curvy stretches of road suburban Detroit had to offer, we opportunistically pulled into a roadside fruit stand to snap a few photos before our ride got any dirtier. It was at exactly this point that a Lincoln MKZ rolled up, a ...

ABG First Drive: 2010 Honda Insight, 63.4 mpg! 1231682400
2009 is shaping up to be a big year for hybrids as Ford launches the Fusion and Milan hybrids, Toyota brings us the third generation Prius and the new Lexus HS250h and Honda revives the Insight brand. The original Insight was the first hybrid to make it to the US market but it was never very commercially successful. Honda only managed to sell about 18,000 ...
