Founded in 1899, Fiat is now the world's sixth largest automaker and the largest based in Italy. 0Spy Shots: Fiat 500L seven-seater spotted 1334932140
We like the small Fiat 500 a lot, but we're not so fond of the upsized version Fiat is planning. When the five-door 500L debuted at Geneva, calling it homely was being generous, indeed. We can't deny the logic in offering a more family friendly 500, however. But a size-large seven-seater? This quite literally stretches the limits of the 500's ethos. Yet ...

Spy Shots: Dodge Caliber's Alfa Romeo-based replacement spotted wearing crosshairs 1316791680
When we first caught wind of the Fiat intention to get cozy with Chrysler, our first thoughts leapt to the slew of sexy Italian compacts that could conceivably make their way to the states. Of all the hardware that could potentially be Americanized, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta was the one hatch that had our loins stirring the most. Now our elite squad of spy ...

Spy Shots: Under this Fiat Qubo is the new small Jeep 1303831740
It looks like Fiat and Jeep have been busy working on the American manufacturer's upcoming compact CUV. Our tactical squad of spy photographers managed to capture a few images of a Fiat Qubo test mule running around in upper latitudes of Sweden. Apparently the baby widebody tester is our first glimpse at the small Jeep CUV set to debut in 2013. The ...

Spy Shots: Fiat's high-riding, all-wheel-drive 500 1296671400
The 2012 Fiat 500 may just be launching here in the United States, but elsewhere, Fiat appears to be working on an all-wheel-drive 500 to battle the high-riding Ford Fiesta and Chevrolet Sonic that have both been recently spied. Rumors have suggested that the AWD variant will be introduced around the same time as the slightly facelifted 500 in ...

Spy Shots: Facelifted Fiat Sedici spotted 1230647460
The Fiat Sedici is up for a refresh that is so subtle you probably wouldn't notice it unless you were a member of a Sedici enthusiast site, which is where these photos came from. Fiat's version of the Suzuki SX4 crossover, gets a new grille to fall in line with Fiat's design language and a front bumper treatment that turns the door cladding into one ...

Spy Shots: Fiat 500 "Cabrio Coach" 1221134280
The only thing that could possibly make the Fiat 500 any cutesier than it already is – short of a Hello Kitty sticker job – would be to turn it into a convertible. Castagna tried its hand at just that with the unique Tender Two concept, but the latest batch of spy shots indicate that Fiat's own is getting closer to completion. In fact, reports ...

Spy Shots: Fiat 500 Abarth SS 1219368660
Fiat is set to debut the high performance version of its fashionable 500 -- possibly in October at the Paris Motor Show -- and spy shots have revealed that development is well underway. If fans of the retro-mobile were let down by the Abarth model's relatively puny 133-horsepower and sub-eight-second run to 60, the SS model will improve those numbers ...

Rendered Speculation: Alfa Romeo MiTo could be first true MINI-killer 1204549080
The Mini is so 2006. VW's new Polo has yet to launch. Neither of those cars matter once you set eyes on the forthcoming hotness from Alfa Romeo. Alfa is coming back to the U.S. market, and while everyone's been ga-ga about the 8C Competizione, supercars just don't support the type of sales volume that Alfa is looking for. Dubbed the MiTo, Alfa's B-car might ...

Spy Shots: Fiat Abarth 500 SS 1200664620
The hotrod version of Fiat's new 500 was snagged by photographers in frozen Scandinavia practicing its flick. Wearing a tape job, the Abarth 500 SS doesn't do a whole lot to disguise its body mods. The snout and rump have their details pretty well obscured, but the overall motif is discernible. The wraps will come off this extra-aggressive Lilliputian in ...

Official Alfa Romeo Junior sketches surface 1190125860
Germany's Auto Motor und Sport has unearthed sketches and renderings of the upcoming Alfa Junior. Yet another car they get over there, that we wish we could have over here. Automakers usually counter hatch lust with the party line that they're not popular in America, so we'll see what Alfa puts on the US bound boats. Based on the Fiat Grande Punto's ...

Spy Shots: Fiat Punto Abarth 1189027620
The Fiat Punto Abarth -- the tarted up version of the Punto by Fiat's in-house tuning arm -- has been seen on the roads of Turin, and it's hot hot hot. The car looks every bit as good as the concept, perhaps even better, having swapped the white mirrors for red ones. It will have a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine with 155 HP and a 6-speed manual. However, ...

Rendered Speculation: Fiat Bravo Crossover 1186576320
Fiat's already started the machinations to bring Alfa back to the North American market, so is it too much to dream that Fiat proper would mount a return as well? The rhetoric surrounding the 2010 Bravo is that it's an integral part to the brand spreading to more diverse markets. What could be more diverse than a US market that's devoid of all those ...

Spy Shots: Fiat Abarth duo 1184279520
Abarth is returning to the scene with force. The historic Italian tuning house, long a part of the Fiat group, has been hard at work turning Fiat's models into hot hatches worthy of the scorpion badge's revival. At Geneva we saw the production preview of the Grande Punto Abarth, and the Abarth version of the newly-launched 500 retromobile is expected at ...

Spionaggio! new Fiat 500 pics leaked 1165427880
If you ask us, it's a good thing Fiat has resisted the urge to branch out of automobiles and into boat manufacturing, because as it stands, they've got far too many leaks. The latest are a series of photos and details of the upcoming highly-anticipated 500, ostensibly leaked from Fiat in a slide show for internal consumption. Silly Italians, didn't you know ...

Mama Mia! Fiat Group production schedule leaked 1163172600
Someone's bound to get in trouble for this, 'cause this is not a document that should have hit the internet. But since it has, we're glad to bring it to you. It was apparently prepared for a conference of Fiat Group investors held over the last couple of days. A few weeks ago, we brought you the anticipated release dates through 2008 for Fiat, Lancia and ...

Spy Shots: Fiat 500 cabrio 1160580480
Fiat's launch of the chic retro 500 supermini, scheduled for late next year, is bound to be at least as successful as BMW's revival of the MINI. The original iconic Cinquocente didn't have much power, but that doesn't stop Michael Schumacher from driving one. (Nor did it stop Luigi from stacking his tires in Cars.) The new 500 should follow the same ...

Spy Shots: Fiat Bravo 1160088960
Fiat is preparing its new Bravo for debut at Geneva next spring, and photos have surfaced of a test mule tooling around Turin. Fiat hopes to take aim at the hot-selling Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus with its new Bravo hatch, developed in conjunction with Canadian components supplier Magna. Although the mules are heavily disguised, you can discern a front ...

Fiat 500 Spy Photos Surface 1151165640
Italian website Quattroroute has what appears to be the first spy photos of the new Fiat 500. Snapped while it was driving the streets of Turin, the heavy cladding obscures all the 500's key details, but the shape is there, as are the round headlights. The full gallery of photos has clear shots of the side and rear of the little Fiat as well. Interest is ...
