not a burner, but smooth as silk
Purchased a 2010 3.2 fwd xc60 with premium and climate pkgs. Very competent and easy to live with road manners, especially the low rpms at 80 mph which is a delight on long trips. exterior styling and overall fit and finish both inside and out are excellent. minor gripes include a tranny that shifts a bit too frequently btn 1st and 2nd gear at low speeds, ******** so smooth ********* not annoying, and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel that doesn't tilt downward enough for my taste. Handling is stable though the steering input on cornering is a bit vague compared to direct input steering found on sportier cars. What I like about the vehicle is that it does everything very well, provides enough room for passengers and cargo, and the inline 6 cyl should prove very durable, which is why I opted for it over the T6. Granted the turbo would have been fun, but in the real world, the 3.2 normally aspirated easily keeps pace. Have previously owned two audi's and though I loved the driving experiences, the poor maintenance experiences kept me from risking another adventure on the Q5.
Best car I've owned. Handles great and interior/exterior styling are top-notch - heads turn every time I go out. Not many on the road which makes it unique. Most comfortable seats on the market. Very easy to get in/out & load. Lots of room for cargo. Nav system is a little quirky, but once used to ******** excellent. Handles better than my 3yr sport sedan. Mileage could be better, but runs on regular gas, so it's a wash. Extremely happy with purchase.
Review of 2010 Volvo XC60
Don't buy from Volvo of Houston
After shopping this model for over three weeks at Volvo of Houston, I finally decided to make a purchase when the govt announced a quick end to the Cars Allowance Rebate program. Initally, I had wanted to order it to my specs and wait for delivery. I thought $4500 incentive was good enough to take the one I had been test driving. After I informed them I would take advantage of the CARS program, the salesman's response was "I wouldn't have given you that price if I knew you were going to do a clunker deal." Bottom line - they refused to do the deal even though they had not withdrawn from the program. The GM claimed it was a "business decision."
Very nice vehicle
Yesterday I took an extended test drive in an XC60. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well it drove and handled, with great comfort and power. It is also larger and roomier then I thought it was going to be and similar in size to the Lexus RX350 parked next to me,which is another contender for us. The XC60 was easy to get into, had loads of room and took the "twisties" with aplomb! The brake pedal action felt a bit mushy, but still stopped the car on a dime, and a fast take-off on a sandy parking lot caused no wheel spinning or skidding. We are looking to save a bit of money and will probably lease the Volvo when we turn in our BMW 530i.
