2013 Volkswagen Golf R

2013 Golf R Photos
The Volkswagen Golf R is the most powerful Golf model to be available in North America and is the all-new predecessor to the VR6-powered R32 models from 2004 and 2008. The Golf R is available in two or four-door bodystyles and is powered by a 256-hp 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. That power is directed to the ground through Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system which can direct 100-percent of the torque to the rear wheels if necessary. Styling is subtly more aggressive than the regular Golf with large front air intakes, LED daytime running lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, black painted brake calipers with the R logo and a rear bumper than incorporates a diffuser and centrally mounted dual exhaust tips. Inside, there is a flat-bottom leather-wrapped steering wheel, aluminum trim on the dash, doors and pedals, and the R logo can be found on the sills, the shift knob and the sport bucket seats. There are only three options, a power sunroof, Dynaudio sound system and navigation, everything else is standard including dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth, adaptive bi-xenon headlights six airbags, heated leather seats and keyless access/start. The Golf R continues unchanged for 2013.
