2009 A6 Overview

The Audi A6 continues a legacy of dynamic excellence and exceptional comfort, with impressive attention to detail both inside and out. The A6 is a 4-door, 5-passenger luxury sedan or wagon (Avant), packed with technology that enhances convenience and driving dynamics.The A6 is available in 4 trims: 3.2 FrontTrak Sedan, 3.0 quattro Sedan, 4.2 quattro Sedan and 3.0 quattro Avant. All engines in the A6 lineup are equipped with direct gasoline injection; A6 3.2 trims get a 255-hp 3.2-liter V6, while A6 4.2 trims are outfitted with a 350-hp 4.2-liter V8. For 2009, A6 3.0 trims get a dynamic new 300-hp 3.0-liter supercharged V6 powerplant. A six-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic manual mode is standard on the quattro all-wheel drive Sedan and Avant, while the front-wheel drive FrontTrak Sedan gets Audi's seven-speed Multitronic continuously variable transmission (CVT). Standard equipment on every A6 includes a power sunroof, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, satellite radio, Bluetooth wireless connectivity and an Audi Music Interface with iPod connection; A6 3.0 trims add heated front seats, while A6 4.2 trims are further equipped with bi-xenon adaptive headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, Advanced Key passive entry/start and a voice-activated navigation system with integrated rear camera parking assist. Standard safety features include electronic stability and traction control, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes with brake assist, active anti-whiplash front head restraints, and front, front side-impact and overhead curtain airbags; rear side-impact airbags and a new Audi Side Assist blind spot detection system are optional.The Audi A6 is completely redesigned for 2009, with fresh exterior styling that includes a revised front bumper, grille and foglamps, as well as new front and rear lighting with available LED daytime running lamps. Additionally, suspension set-up enhancements improve comfort and handling, while the all-new 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine injects dynamic performance into the lineup.The body and chassis are designed to improve ride and handling, comfort and capability. Four distinct trims are offered and these include the Work Truck, the LT, the LTZ and the High Country. Regular cabs have 8-foot box lengths, while double cabs are available with either 6-foot, 6-inch or 8-foot boxes, and crew cab customers can choose between 6-foot, 5-inch or 8-foot boxes. The standard engine on all Silverado HDs is a 360 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque 6.0L Vortec gasoline V8, matched to a six-speed automatic transmission. A bi-fuel version of the 6.0-liter which will run on either gasoline or compressed natural gas is available. The optional Duramax 6.6-liter diesel, with 397 horsepower and 765 lb-ft of torque, is mated to the Allison 1000 6-speed automatic transmission. Standard Trailer Sway Control keeps both the truck and trailer heading in the same direction automatically. The CornerStep bumper, combined with handholds built into the new box rail protectors, makes it easier to access the box.
