Overview

The Volvo V50 is a straightforward wagon extension of the V40. It continues to enhance Volvo's reputation as a maker of superb sports wagons.

The front-wheel drive basic 2.4i V50 has a 168 hp 2.4-liter inline-five-cylinder engine. The T5 can be equipped with all-wheel drive and is powered by a 218 hp turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-five engine. Both engines come standard with a adaptive Geartronic five-speed automatic transmission. The all-wheel drive T5 comes with a six-speed manual transmission. Safety features include electronic stability control, side-impact and side curtain airbags, and all-disc antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution.

For 2007, the Volvo V50 receives slight changes.
