2007 Volvo S40
I purchased a cute little no frills demo (nice neoprene upholstery but not leather and no sun roof) for my daughter's first car. I really love this car. I drive a Corolla and let me tell you, her little S40 has a lot of pep and drives like a dream. My base of comparison is my Corolla and the two are like night and day. The Volvo is far more substantial, runs like a European luxury sedan. I can also compare to the BMW 300 series and you really can't tell the difference. But there is a significant difference, maybe $10,000 worth. I highly recommend, especially if you're looking for the qualities of a European sedan without the price. I paid $22,000, and that was w/ extended warranty, roadside assistance, and a maintenance contract for 5 years. Plus, the service at Weston Volvo has been tremendous. Definitely a step up from Toyota.

your figures are wrong I get 30 + mpg on the highway and 22 in local driving I use only regular unleaded gas .My only problem is the instrument panel is unreadable during the day and Volvo will not address the problem
