It is alot of car for the money I bought 1 then I bought one for my daughter safety is a concern. My new one is the limited nicely equipped, it has been reliable, got to get used to the cvt but after that good to go.

I bought the 2006 Ford 500 two years ago. I have put 60,000 miles on it commuting & visiting my kids in college. I really like it. No repairs, except a brake job and oil changes every 5,000 miles, The milage is usually over 25 MPG mixed(depending on highway mix). Huge trunk, plent of room, great visiblity. The CVT transmission is better than the CVT transmission that I had on Cadilac Caterra, my previous car
What a car!
I have had my 500 for one year now. It is, without doubt, the best value car I have ever purchased. Mine is an AWD Limited and I couldn't be happier. As to those who say it is underpowered, I find the power very adequate for urban or highway driving. This is not the fastest car I have ever owned, but if I wanted the kind of acceleration that people say it should have, I would have bought a Maserati. The car has the same level of aplomb and balance as an E350. True, it won't accelerate like an E350, but it rides and handles like one. This car is like so many other cars out there as it is made or broken by the trim level you purchase and the color combination you choose. I have seen the base SEL models in the metallic beige with the standard interior and it looks like oatmeal with doors. Mine is the Limited and I chose a black exterior with a tan leather interior. Additionally, when I purchased the car I had a very subtle dual pinstripe (tan and red) painted on the car. This car is beautiful and I have had several people come up to me and ask me what type of car I was driving. Trust me when I tell you this is a whole lot of car for the buck. I plan on keeping mine for several years.
Love this car
Classy looking car, performs well, smooth ride, great options, large comfortable interior, large trunk, seats the driver a bit higher up than most sedans. I can't believe that Ford decided to stop making this fabulous car. The new Taurus grill is not nearly as nice looking as the 500's is. Guess they never heard "you never change a winner"!
